Another example of why I hate Blind contests. I miss all of them. Yup, I have to start checking the contest booth before I retire at night...the titles your yours should be a definite clue...LOL

You're not alone, Sasha. I'd say more than 3/4 of the members here never even take a glance at the voting booths, for whatever reason. That's the first place I go when I log on -- straight to the voting booths. I enjoy trying to guess which posts belong to whom in blind contests, and I'm right more than half the time. Now that I'm done tooting my own horn, I'll bow to you at the waist and say, "Thank you for yet again another lovely review, my friend."

You do have a way of bringing us readers to a point of not wanting to continue reading however, unable or unwilling to stop, we continue. Thank you for the notes, I do sometime get lost in old English. Thanks for writing and sharing.

Thank you for taking time out to read and review this piece for me, Thamp. Everyone in the dream spoke like I imagine the great poet, William Shakespeare, would have spoken, hence the way in which it was written. I was the worst nightmare I think I've ever had, and I've had quite a few, believe me.

    Thanks again. ~Dean

What a horrid, horrid dream. This is a phobia I have heard others express. I've even heard of people they believed to ne dead, coming to before embalming, though these stories may be urban legends. Good poem to stir up fear...

It was horrible, Carolyn. The worst dream I've ever had, and I've had quite a few in my day.

I very much appreciate your review, my friend. :) ~Dean

A Grimm poem with a grimmer ending. The Grimm lives and that's a frightening thing.
Your Grimmness expands with ever grim stories; I fear for you, what must your nights be, when grimm-mares invades even your sleep.
Excellently grim
I think you were framed a Poe(t)
Beautiful, seems a strange word to use, but beautiful it is, like a beautiful night.
Your Excellence!

Thanks for the kind and complimentary review, my friend. I'm glad you enjoyed the poem. It was the absolute worst nightmare I think I've ever had, and I've had quite a few.

All I can say is wow. You have clearly painted a picture of death and the embalmer with your words and the imagery screams off the page. The selected picture clearly complements your words of a worst nightmare. I wish you the best of luck in this contest. This writing is very dark and something I commend you on. Well done.

Thank you very much, VW, for the six stars as well as the complimentary review. So sorry for the lengthy delay in responding. I got a a bit behind what with all of the writing I've been doing lately. Time to play "catch up", LOL'...

I would have to say this would be a most frightening nightmare, although I never got to know my father. Your writing is superb, and hooked me in from the beginning to end. I felt as though Alfred Hitchcock was speaking through your words. Very well done.

That is indeed a horrible dream, especially since your own dad was doing the embalming. Thank goodness it is not true. Congrats on the win! Evi

    Hey, Evi.

It was the most horrible dream I think I've ever had, hands down. Such a terrible feeling of helplessness.

Anyhow, I sure do appreciate the six stars, and I'm very happy you enjoyed it.

Thanks again, and be good (or really good at it!) :) ~Dean

What a horrible dream, intensified by your Old English writing style! The trocar description was more information than I needed--just kidding. You had to win the contest with this account and divine presentation, along with quatrains in alternating rhymes. Cheers- Joan

Hi Dean,

This is a very interesting read. You have a really good niche at writing.
The descriptive words you used rhymed very lyrically and poetically
without giving away "too much" to the reader.
Well done,
excellent entry.

Great one, Dean. I have a condition called nightmare disorder which leads to horrific nightmares almost every night I sleep. Maybe, I should start writing some of them down. Anyway, well written. Talk about horror and thriller--well maybe just horror. Have a good Sunday, my friend~Debbie
