Great pictures, and well written tribute, although it's good she probably can't read :)
Sometimes pets are loved for their cleverness, because it reflects back to us, and sometimes they are simply loved:)

I love this - a unique pet indeed...
something different that drew me in
the words, and both rhythm and rhyme
flowing well throughout.
Most impressive, Michael.

Beautiful bird, the crown making her look like a renaissance painting of a saint. Repeatedly Pecking at flies through glass shows perhaps royal inbreeding. I know you had lots of birds at one time. You did not really have one, did you?

Yes. Inbred for sure! I really did have one along with toucans, hornbills, you name it. We once bid on a camel at an auction, thank God we didn't get it, we had no idea how big they got. :))

Your poem rhymes well and is fun to read. I wonder, though, if this is for real. Do you really have a pet crane? It's an unusual animal for a private home.

Good job with the prompt. I am thinking this is a pet you may have wanted but did not actually have as a pet. The presentation is very good. The rhyme is good. Good job with the rhyme although I am uncertain about the pattern of it. No changes needed. Good job and good luck in the contest.

To michaelcahill,
A very unique and rare bird to raise, nurture, and feed.
But with ample land and others alike it was sure to flourish.
would wonder why- nice alliteration

What a lovely looking crane, I have only seen cranes crownless! Amusing rhyme about a favourite pet, sounds like she was fun to have. Excellent rhyming, good luck in the contest. Faye

Michael: I like your wind blown bird brain pet. Great photo and alliteration as she stood so tall. I like your rhymes of fly, why and try. Was she just pretty in the backyard or did the neighbors say she was dumb. Funny entry. flylikeaneagle
