Leprosy long before the coming of Christ was considered to be God's punishment for sinful behavior. Aids is taking the place of the evil sickness. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for a good read.

Thanks. Yes, man does seem to conveniently find life's illnesses as God's punishment.

Three very interesting different cases and questions. It seemed rather harsh to call the priest an uneducated idiot. He is educated in the clergy and in the Bible and his advice was not wrong. There are consequences to our sin and God disciplines us, like we do our own children. Like our children, it is for our own good. Otherwise, I thought the advice was good and the column was a good idea.

Everyone has the right to their opinion. But to suggest that God views homosexuality as a punishment is a stretch. Leprosy long before the coming of Christ was considered to be God's punishment for sinful behavior. Today Aids is taking the place of the evil sickness. Any one can read a book, it doesn't make them educated.

There are many verses in the Bible about homosexuality and it is very clear that God views it as a sin. I would assume it is the same to be a priest, but I know for sure a pastor has to take many classes and read many books. It is just like a degree in anything else. I looked at the assistant program and that is a 2-year degree. It was a pretty intense schedule.

I respect your opinion but view the Bible as written by man, not God. Man tends to twist things to prove 'his' point and, I view that as cheating.

It was written by men, but they spent 3 years with Jesus and knew him well. It is God breathed. You are right, many men try to twist the Bible or pull out the parts that work for them. I used to do it all the time, but that was because I hadn't read it.

I respect your right to believe as you do, but I too have read the Bible several times and still find it impossible to believe it is the word of God. Let's move on, okay?

I wasn't going to say anything else about it. I respect your right to believe as you want to. It made me sad, but we all have free will.
