A great moral to live by, and a most intriguing story to affirm it!
Love your lyrical style, and prancing amidst past love's like a
lonesome cowboy, having well learned his lesson about bad
wine and tall tales over more spirited kinds of ale's. And
maybe someday find a true lady love.
Great pic too ... a fun and enjoyable read!

Hie Brett,
You have managed to let the reader picture what
you are talking about

"Her name was Kate and she belonged to me,
at least, she did for a little while.
I loved the way she held me tight,
and the sweet way that she'd smile,
but, I lost her love one stormy night
down around New Orleans.
By the time they put that fire out
our love was dead there at the scene..."

All the best from Praise000

What a good connection between lines with a story and the title. I love your introduction and conclusion:
"Life is too short to drink bad wine
I heard my bartender say to me. ..
"Like the grapes that grow on the vine
you're gonna find true love you know. "
The ending a simple line: "Life is too short to drink bad wine." contains the essence of the message, picture, poem, and inside.
I love it!

Hi, Brett....

Yep, take if from me, an ex-bar owner---the barkeep is spot on about drinking 'bad wine.'

Rally up to the bar with some 'good stuff' and then be ready to let anyone and everyone bend your ear---it's money in the bank----when you agree with what they say. (*<*)

I really liked your poem. Natural flow and circumstance the man relays to the barkeep. Super artwork too.

Cheers & Blessings
Keep Smilin'... Jax (*:*)

This is definitely a true cowboy's song, bad wine and all. It does have some good qualities though, it's a nice lilting rhythm, and the rhyming is well done.
So my question is, did you let it go, and have you found true love?
Just asking? Inquiring minds...you know:)
Enjoyable read.

Very nice, interesting, intelligently written poem. It held my interest thruout. I would say this fellow may be the type that can't really allow himself a relationship but on the other hand they make good stories. don

Excellent! I love the message in this poem. Life is definitely too short and we should savor every moment we are given. I certainly struggle with "letting go" and just living in the moment but I'm working on it. Thank you for sharing. God bless :)

This is excellent poetry. Life is definitely too short to drink bad wine, yet, until we realize it, and often times even after, we will drink the bad wine and live the bad aftermath of it. Good job!!

Your poem tells a good story although sad. It seems that the person is not sure about the causes of his failed relationships.

The picture is perfect. Your poem had good flow.

I would change one word:

So, I ordered another sloe gin fizz, [slow] not sloe

Good job and thanks for sharing.

Kate, Diane and Susan an I guess a lot more besides! This follows the familiar pattern like the night follows the day. In your lyric I can hear the strummed chors of the guitar, the plaintive wail of the fiddle and resonant beat of the pedal steel. Great entertainment.
