One cannot survive on bad memories for they will bring one down. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words, making for good imagery.

If one finds wine has gone bad, he should leave it and go for a fresh one. But in matters of love, such attitudes are easier said than followed. Your metaphor of bad wine with love gone wrong has been very aptly used. At the end, the advice you got to let go would stand you in good stead.

I love this poem. It made me smile from f beginning to end. Although there is not that much rhyme the rhythm is excellent. The sentences are straight and smooth.
The tone, the images are excellent and varied. Oh, I loved reading the poem from beginning to end.

Yes, life is too short for bad wine. I enjoyed this grapes of wrath poem, indeed! I love how you told a story within a story and rhymed it in a song. It is classic to have a story told to a bartender--a cry in your wine story instead of a cry in your beer or your whiskey story. Thank you for sharing your fun poem.

I would love to hear your lyrics with music. This is a really sad Country and Western song, the lyrics are lovely on their own, with music they must sound outstanding, I don't know if you have looked in FanMusic, I don't know what they do on there, not writing music myself, but I think it might suit you.
Sandra.

The metaphor of wine for life is a good choice. Bad choices, bad flavors, bad consequences...
Your poem is a story familiar to many.
The loves that come and go and the regrets, all must be let loose so life can continue and possibilities can arrive.
Well done.

What a story in a poem - the sweet
wrong woman who left you hurting
but not for long - another came
along. Unlucky in love, but hey,
what's the point of looking back,
when the future's waiting.

I enjoyed this, most impressive, Brett.

Hi Brett, I just reviewed your other song and this one is just as good, Every good song should tell a story, such as Kenny Rogers 'The Gambler' or 'Lucille'.
Yours does exactly that my friend, thank you for sharing.

I just love the title of these lyrics, simply because it is so true. We do really gotta let it go. but the 64 million dollar question is HOW. Unfortunately, we are the only ones to find the answer.

Well written
Mary
