I find this poem intrinsically sad. I appreciate your insight in your explanation,and I think that is a normal reaction as we age. Sadness leaks throughout this poem, as well as a sense of preoccupation. I liked it, I just didn't understand the one part about the dumpster being shut down. I wasn't sure if the person thought the ashes were placed there or she lost them there. The sense of loss is strong.

No, I do not find the piece morbid. Maybe because I think of it quite a lot now that I've been around the barnyard once or twice. It is a quietly sad piece only because we all will be ash one day and that enlightenment does sadden. It is a responsible piece and like any good thing, it makes you think, however uncomfortable. Good job and thank you.

I think as we get older our perspective on just about anything changes. This is very well done, and although morbid, does make you think.
