Wow! I can see that you are very strong in your thoughts and goals in this matter. I wish there was a way to put some spirits in our leaders so they will actually begin to lead. I wonder and worry about the world as it is. Will we survive? Only our Lord knows the answer.

Always with respect,

I admired your social commentary and warning. I was amazed you could the piece in mono-verse rhymed quatrains. Your "disease" and "deck" metaphors are quite powerful. Here's to the elimination of persecution! -Joan

Your poem has a strong message. You explained yourself well. Everything you stated is correct. All of us must change before it is too late if it is not already too late. Good job and thanks for sharing. I see nothing to change. The picture is perfect. The Earth is in a battle of survival.

How do we do that? I totally agree, yet I feel so helpless.
This is one of those "rant" poems that drive my writers group crazy. I can't write about snow and flowers when it looks like we are going to hell in a handbasket. Whatever that means.

Thank you for your review and rating. Simply put, most do not feel there is competent leadership. Aid should have been given to Syria three years ago before 100,000 people were slaughtered and ISIS got a foothold. Obama drew a red line and then did not honor it. He left those people swinging in the wind. This will go on and on unless he gets a coalition together OR if we survive long enough for a competent leader to ascend to the WH. Most people at the very least believe he is a Muslim sympathizer. Everyone has to draw their own conclusions. Marilyn

Well, I certainly don't agree with your assessment regarding President Obama. And hindsight is 20/20. Sadly 9/11 taught us nothing. Marilyn, I have no reason to believe there is a solution. Every action will have a reaction. And probably more than one. We are in a sad, sad position.

So what do you think should be the action/no action taken by those we elected to lead??
reply by granny goes viral on 01-Mar-2015
I have no idea anymore. I am more and more convinced "our human nature" is not all that humanistic. Sad to say, isn't it. It seems we are basically a greedy, hateful people with a few "angels" thrown in, who more then not get killed.

Lovely poem, Marilyn, and very wise words. Man has never lived in peace, and I doubt, every will. We have more wild animal in us, than the wild animals of the wild. (Does that make sense?) We have a lovely planet, and we destroy everything in it. Hopefully, one day we will learn. :) Sandra xsx

Hi Sandra. Thank you for your review and comments. All I can say is that somebody, somewhere better do something quick. We can wish the world was one way, but it is not. Leaders have to take hold of the challenge and lead. Some are not capable of that. Marilyn

The people agree with you. It's our stupid governments that are letting it happen. Don't get me started on that. Timely piece, Marilyn. I always thought Obama was the Anti-Christ, so this all fits.

Hi Phyllis. He is the Anti-Christ. Thank you for your review and comments. Pray we survive till we get a competent, sane prez in the WH. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn. This poem is so profound! It says everything and in such great poetry. I'd truly like to see you write more of this type, you do it extremely well. Not only do I like the poem, I like the message contained in it. one question I ask tho', do we have strength from any of our 'leaders' at the moment? This one should do well for you, alf

Hi alf. Thank you for your excellent review and stars. No--I do not think there is any will by leadership--which is completely incompetent and self serving. Unless someone has the courage to form a coalition that is meaningful and immediate, it will be each man/woman for self--even if it is grassroots. I do believe we are on the verge of the apocalypse. God help us and those being massacred. Marilyn

This poem vividly describes the ten million ton train that may one day end the world when it crashes through our ignorance, inactivity and indifference. I wonder when that happens whether our 'leaders' will smile with their ill gotten smart money. Well done, Marilyn.

Amen to that!!! The news coming out of the Mid-East turns my stomach, and saddens me to the core. And we are allowing this evil to continue. That is why this line is especially true:

All the while so-called leaders stall in great malaise

I know there are no easy answers to these problems, but to give up before really trying...shame, shame, shame.
