I totally love your poem. It is nice and flowing and it flows in the correct order I feel, it is definitely not like jumping from one place to another. The subject is also very sweet, yet sad, but you have written it very beautifully, and I love the idea of writing it as a conversation :). Keep it up :)!

This is a sad poem about a father who would rather have another woman instead of the mother of his son. When my second daughter and her husband divorced her 2 sons had a difficult time for a couple of years, because their daddy wanted a younger woman. Patricia.

This is very cleverly thought out and I thought it was very creative. It rhymes well and flows throughout. I enjoyed it very much.

Thanks

I felt that this was such a sad read.. but honest as well, because this truly is the scenario today for so many.. I suppose it probably has been for a very long time.. your poem will probably cause many fathers and sons to stop and think about what matters most.. thanks for sharing..

Thank you for your comments. Seems I struck a nerve with my poem as the comments I have received about it have been very supportive and if it makes fathers think more positively about what effects they have on their children in that situation all the better.

A heart-breaking poem about son/father relationship. Alas, this us true for so many families. The son's love for his father and his despair at the father abandoning the family just breaks your heart.

And, the son has so much to say, but the father obviously doesn't, as there is nothing he can say to justify himself.

Excellent rhymes and meter. A must read.

Thank you for your kind review. This was my first poem posted on this site and it has been well received. I truly appreciate it very much indeed. I also have another "Family-themed" poem called Whole Lotta Man posted on this site as well that you may enjoy reading.

Wow wow wow. How many children living in single parent homes today having this conversation with the non-custodial parent? Why does the one who left say they are not leaving the child and yet they do. This is a very emotional piece. My children were all nearly grown when their father left me. I should say, us, because he never picked up a relationship with them again until they were all married and parents. Fine job here in the writing and the emotion and compassion your words evoke.

Thank you. This is actually based on my own true growing up days. I very much appreciate your comments and glad I was able to capture the essence of what is indeed an epidemic too wide spread, and in my opinion, so very unnecessary.
