Excellent Poem! The author's words flow and connect well.
The first two lines are creative and descriptive. The last line
says it all. The artwork is perfect and reflects the theme of this poem well.

I love this haiku, it is visual as it is also evocative of the message the author wanted to drive at to the readers. The art work complements well the message. I too have written several poems about the same subject. Thanks for sharing.

Less is often more. I didn't understand the poem without the author notes but when I read it again it says so much ~ especially the fear that is cast.

I find it funny how ISIS can propagate numerous 5-7-5's. Because of ISIS I have penned three of them myself;- one for the Japanese that perished. This is well written and I like the eerie quality it has to it.

Mike, I will have to check your 5-7-5's out. Thank you for the six star review. I am humbled that my haiku moved you.

I applaud you for this work. It keeps atrocities in the forefront so we do not complacently forget. I read this a great commentary on the world. This happens and our living rooms are chilled, until we change the channel. I also should mention, because you did, about graphic works of this act. It was horrific and though you were repelled by the poem, we should never accept the incivility. I think there is a place for all of it, what there is not a place for is forgetting.

THANK YOU!

Spooky spider rivets our attention while the colour of the robe reflects our knowledge of the brutal attitude the jihadists have toward the captives - an ultimate act of depersonalization to follow - beheading. Excellent Haiku with Satori.

Thank you Alan for your kind review. The colour of the robe is the new colour of terror. If you wear that colour in one of their videos, you are going to die.
Comment from Michael Sundaresan
The opening line is striking (all the lines are good. What is interesting is that it is the living rooms that are described as being chilled, not the people watching the beheading. The information you provide also makes me appreciate the art more. Well done.

Beheading is an archaic for of execution that the European used up to the nineteenth century. It should not be living room viewing. This is well written.

Thank you, c_lucas, for your kind review. I agree. Beheadings should not be living room viewing. This is why the news either cuts away before the knife falls or they show a still photo of the kneeling victim before his beheading. Thank you for your review.
