Fear is not cowardice - I used to tell my seventh graders in assignments that talked about heroism and courage that it is overcoming fear, not being oblivious to it, that counts

Excellent advice, and a top example, Mikey, of the bullying of a probably lowly paid worker by his much better paid boss who probably works half as hard and contributes far less.
One nit-pick, with respect - you mention the 'boss' and the 'owner', and they're often the same person. Also, if they're not, how does one find the owner, and how many people would bother, even if they could - which is wrong and selfish of course.
TOP principle that I applaud.

This really is good advice. I'm one of those people who can't keep quiet when I see someone being mistreated or just doing something stupid and harmful to themselves or others. I find people are shocked when a stranger interferes in their lives, but maybe it gives them reasson to think. I hope. :)

Wow, Mikey, I want you on my side the next time I get bullied. Bullying is a huge problem on all levels, in all age groups. Sad is the bullying of elders, either at home, or in nursing homes.

The advice you write about is excellent. I rather tend toward the cowardice of inaction myself, not being a confrontational type. I did confront a grown-up Halloween "lion" one time who was scaring my little girl for fun. I made him go into his back yard and stay there until we were out of the neighborhood. I think your advice is splendid and probably would work in most circumstances. I'm way too scared of my own shadow to make it a practice in public, yet I know you're right. A mate of mine sat on a bus one day. A drunk began racially abusing an Islamic woman who simply cried. No-one had the courage to confront him until an old lady came from the back of the bus and began haranguing the driver to toss him off. With a couple of other people's help they evicted him. We sat and watched. Today when we reflect on it, we realised we were cowards and pray that we'd have the courage if something like that happened again. Yeah, great advice. Good luck, Mikey.
