Well done... toooo well done. Truly frightening. I think suicide is the scariest thing there is. To get to THAT point of depression, where you choose death over life... wow. It's mostly young men, including soldiers, but not limited to them by any means. If they only knew how MUCH life can change. TRUE HORROR, because it's REAL.

This is a dark, but honest poem, Dean.

The first stanza certainly brings the reader in with a slap.

I'm gonna draw a picture/ and add an extra twist./ I'm gonna use a razor/ and draw it on my wrist.

Good job, my friend. You are performing a service here I wish had a audience wider than FanStory.

I was among the 16 percent that you mentioned. It is amazing how many family members are completely unaware (or blind) to the problems their children are experiencing. Suicide is clearly not the answer, but for far too many it seems the only means they can think of to end the pain. Excellent work with this one and sends a powerful and important message too.

A very timely poem, Dean, about an often overlooked problem-teenage suicide. Parents do need to be involved and pay attention to the children. Things aren't always as they seem.

It is a sad state of affairs that parents can't see what is happening to their children. Either they can hide it so well the parents are as shocked as the rest of us when it happens, or the parents don't want to 'see' the truth. Your poem is so well written and needs people to see what is happening right in front of their eyes. Well done! xsx sandra

It was always the one thing I worried about with my kids growing up. And even now, as they are adults, one just never knows how the mind works. Depression falls on everyone at one time or another. We need to keep our eyes and ears open. Nicely written with the consequence revealed. Drew

An excellent poem on a worthy subject. We should understand what a horrible world they see through the internet and television. The parents are too busy making a living to notice how frightened they are. Life sucks for the young people of today and I don't see it changing. Good Job. Dean. :<) Nancy

This touches all of our lives at some time or another. Six middle-school students made a pact this past year to commit suicide. The last of the six was one of twin daughters whom I watched and played with since infancy. Their mother worked with me since she was 17, a child herself. I don't profess to have the answers, but parent communication sounds like a great place to start. Thanks for bring this to people's attention. Great job. :-)

This is so scary since it does happen -
and often - these poor troubled souls
crying out for help. The sound is just
perfect for this - sets the atmosphere.

Yuks!!
