I enjoy reading your poems even though I don't write poetry, well, until my first the other day, but your prose has always been my favorite. Your word choices are a talent, from which we all can read and learn. Great job. :-)

Excellent flash fiction - everything one needs to know in so few words and it draws you slowly into the real horror of the financial industry, beautifully represented by the famished panther. Especially like the description of Gleason and mucronated...working that vocab I see!

Double-check - might need to be red-headed - not positive. As far as a novel - oh yes, go for it. The possibilities abound with this one. American Psycho meets Armani - please, put Christian Bale in the lead when the movie comes out. Bad Moon Risin' sounds like a perfect title.

Good luck in the contest! Jean

You cleverly set a scene in the 1st para that hints at the spooky, Deano.

Excellent imagery and character appraisal in para starting, 'Barry Gleeson', and this imagery and confrontation continues into the next.

Excellent descriptions and atmosphere of how the evil werewolf, Ian, hypnotizes his boss to kill himself, and then calmly meets up with the horny redhead whose monthly period tempts his appetite.

Perfect gory ending as Ian heads off in ecstasy.

Life as a werewolf sounds good to me - where do I sign up? LOL.

Top write, my friend, and worthy of my sixer.

Cheers, Ray

Great stuff, Dean:-) THIS could be expanded into a novel! Exceedingly good werewolf story, This might very well take it...It's planned well with plenty of show. It's begging, imo, to break out of the FF format!

Peace!

Mike

"Oh, don't go out tonight

for it's bound to take your life,

ther-r-r-r-r-r-e's a bad moon on the rise..." This brings back memories! Well written and a great horror story. I think your idea for a novel is great. You can count on me to read it. Best wisheds in the contest, my friend~Debbie

Oh yeah, social commentary and a unique take on lycanthropy all an elaborate pun built around The Wolf of Wall Street. I like your subtleties at the beginning, " at a rapid trot" and "like a famished panther". It is too bad that with these wolves, most of us are sheep. Just one suggestion- include The Wolf of Wall Street in your author notes. I do not Think everyone will get the Decaprio reference.

Thanks very much, Ed, and I'm very glad that my more discerning readers have picked up on all of the things I hinted at, including yourself. Many believe that horror has to be an in-your-face, out-and-out bloodfest, a hack 'em and stack 'em approach, but that isn't my idea of what true horror is all about.

I will take you up on your suggestion and include a reference to The Wolf of Wall Street in my author's notes, as you've suggested.

Thanks again for the exceptional comments and six star rating, my friend. It's been awhile since I'd written a story, so I thought I'd give it a go, to try and keep sharp. Hopefully, I've succeeded. :)

Keep the stories coming. And watch out for falling bodies.

vivid descriptions of setting and characters
good use of realistic-sounding dialogue
Eerie scene where Ian issues his orders to Mr. Gleason
eyes twinkled, smirk snaked across his lips - excellent use of non-verbal communication
Great ending - and definitely horror :-) Brooke
