Hi P! This is a lovely and nostalgic bit of verse about a shed that had special significance and memories for you as a child. I also love old buildings and am sentimental over historical landmarks. Top notch meter and rhyme in this write, and you relay the shed with clear images--it paints a vivid picture of what this building meant to you.

Hey thanks Gail, yeah I get a little nostalgic now and again. Had to ease my readers in with something clean for starters haha. Much appreciate your warm review and support and apologise for my lack of it at present. Cheers P

Really like this. I have a ton of photos of old buildings vacated and empty, some leaning, and roofs dipped on. It's sad when there are so many in an area. The stories of the past, the history within, I can see why you would shed a tear. thanks for sharing. You have a good heart I believe. Drew xx

Thanks Drew, it's nice to know there are some kindred spirits out there who appreciate the same simple things. Some of these structures have more character than some people! LOL Thanks again... Cheers P

I know exactly where you are coming from in this one. There were a few dilapidated barns in this cookie cutter town, some of the only buildings with character, and I would drink them in on most every commute. Now gone for yet more cookie cutter houses and the drive is not the same. It makes me want to build a tree house...though our trees are saplings.

Thanks RB. I love old barns too. Basically any structure that is run down and falling to bits. LOL Now GO build that tree house, mate! LMAO Cheers P

Hey Hun. This has great rhythm and flow, but then again that is you. Your description was bang on. I love old structures, so this poem strikes a chord with me.
Just got myself a new camera. I am off to find some old structures to photograph.
:-)~

Oh, that poor little shed. Through your skillful writing, C.P., I couldn't help but think of it as an old person out in the elements, struggling for survival. Now answer me this -- does one wear black when mourning a bunch of wood? (I couldn't help myself, lol.) Hugs, Lou

I like how you gave actual life to the old shed. You made it seem like an old person, with wisdom and stories to impart on those willing to listen and learn. Great imagery and emotional tone. I really enjoyed this. Gretchen

Pal, this is artistry - you really do have a serious side. I can't recall reading anything so nostalgic and entertaining, and at the same time so smoothly done. Lots of great description and feeling and a bit of history, all in pleasing phrases. I'm glad you got there before the thing died.

Nice to see you back. I enjoyed this poem so much.
I pass old barns that lean like this and wonder what holds them up.
Your images are wonderfully described with great rhyme and meter.
How sad that it disappeared. Good that you have the picture. Nancy

I share your love for old, tumbled down things but it doesn't include that morning look in the mirror. Driving thru NH, we used to pass this big old barn and wonder how long it would last as it had that "lean look". Sad to say, it wasn't the wind that done her in...it was John Deere. Good 'un! (Your poem)
