That is one beautiful poem Steve its worth all the accolades you have received for it This should be a shoe in to win any valentine poem contest. I really enjoyed reading it. I wish I had a six left. The flow is perfect.

Hi, Dip. Where did you dig this one up from - it dates back to the valentine's Contest two years ago - and no, no prizes in sight. No 'surprize' either! It's going in my book, though. I'm lurching through the self-publishing process now.

I can see why this poem isso highly regarded on this site. I hope you shared this with a very special person.....and you caught them when they swooned!! ;) Great job sir! I especially like the strong ending line...." In the great ship of life you are both rudder and keel". Aren't we all looking to book passage on THAT ship?

Wow...that's a classic for the poetry books. How did I miss it?? I've written one of these so I know what a challenge they are, but this is incredible - nothing forced, redundant, awkward...it all fits together perfectly.

This is just superb. I can see why you were chosen as the Author of the Year. My sincere congratulations. This was not only lovely and lyrical, it was such a beautiful tribute to your wife as well. As far as I can see, it follows all of the instructions completely, and reads in such a musical, gentle way, This poem seems to me to be a perfect example of "not too many words, and not too few." You have said exactly what you wanted to say, following all the "rules" of this contest, and created a piece of beauty at the same time. So well done.

Well done. I love the Rondeau Redouble and of course, other forms with repetitive lines. You did a swell job, I could hardly notice the transition of lines. Keep up the great work. Drew

'the sky high soprano to my booming bass'...now how beautiful is that? And it describes the man-woman relationship flawlessly...also a beautiful form you chose to write this in!

Beautifully written, good flow. I like your a handful of trumps to the king and ace and sky high soprano to my booming bass.

When I did the course and learnt about the Rondeau redouble it was my favourite for a time, but I don't think I ever wrote one as nice as this one, Steve. It is perfect for Valentine's Day, so sweetly romantic, and the visions are bliss. Giddy

This is true musicality, one several differences between prose and poetry. The craftsmanship is clear. Love the metaphors in the last stanza. Good luck in the contest.

    Thank you.

One of my concerns was that I mixed those metaphors up too much, so it's good to hear you enjoyed them.
