What strikes one first is that our poet loves the English language. It shows through every phrase and verse and is tempered by the intrinsic, generous humor. This is a horror story and the characters are horrible but we forgive them because they have character. The truth is, horror fascinates me and I can't fathom it. The pictures are not helpful. I have tried to delve into horror and generally draw a blank. I prefer a dose of good old humor to measure my work by. Even your title is funny. Why do we take ourselves so seriously?-Ekim777

    Yeah, why is that do you think, Mike? Who can say for sure why some do. I take very little too seriously. Life's too short for that.

    Many enjoy horror simply because of the adrenaline rush, although I'd be hard pressed to say anyone got an adrenaline rush from a pack of penguin zombies. Horror stimulates the same endorphins in our brains that sex stimulate, those same "pleasure" centers. If you wanted to get lucky back in my day with that special gal, then you took her to see the latest, greatest horror hottie at the Drive-in movie. Like bungee jumping, or riding a roller coaster, or skydiving and snorkeling with Great Whites off the reefs of Australia.

    Anyhow...you asked! Heh-heh-heh...

    Thanks for the review. ;}

Yikes! Gruesome stuff! Funny in a dark way, though:-) "Frankensteined" Pengies...not very appetizing, lol!

Thanks for sharing!

    I'd have to use a LOT of good barbecue sauce--the kind with a strong alcohol base, lol.

This poem showcases the gift of the author in horror genre and the writer's great respect and admiration for Phyllis Stewart. The art work intensified the tone of the poem and made the read more interesting. Truly an excellent write.

Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

I've never read anything like that in my life. The fusion of combining the story of updating Frankenstein by means of grotesque undead penguins was very creative and a great twist on an old tale. The descriptions the story telling the rhyme all had a very smooth flow to them and the tale itself was very organized and very funny. Great job.

    Thanks so much, Justin, that's very kind of you, my friend. I've no doubts that once the poet-police and meter-beaters come to call they'll begin to rip it to shreds, LOL. But that's okay, you enjoyed it at least, and that is good enough for me!

    Thanks for your glowing complimentary comments and most generous rating. All are deeply appreciated. :)

From 'neath the icy earth they wobbled... Again I found this poem very interesting and having read the author's notes I do understand a lot more about this Frankenstein monster. Well done.
