Well you did well with your singing penguins Dean. Congrats on the win, and deservedly so for this great tale. Like how you've incorporated FS in your little tale of horror. Great read, gave me a chuckle (was it supposed to)

Thanks, Pearl. I know Phyllis loathes all things horrific. I hope she's not too disappointed that my entry won. I wouldn't know 'cause she hasn't said one way or another.

Thanks for the exceptional rating and review, my friend! :)

This is a good story starter for the "uninitiated". When we say "typical Dean" this is what we had in mind! This is a Hysterical story of biblical proportions. YOUR OUTCOME is what makes this so unique. Yours is delightful presentation that will keep us thinking for a while. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.

Congratulations on your contest win, Dean, in this delightful contest :-)
solid use of rhyming couplets including proximate rhyme like Frankenstein/minds
great alliteration throughout
vivid, mood-creating detail
great humor
strong verb choices
wonderful physical presentation - I'm sure Phyllis will be printing this one out and hanging it on her refrigerator, for sure :-) Brooke

Ha, well, thanks so much Brooke, but I don't know about her printing it out and hanging it on her fridge. She loathes horror, although her own novels have been comedic horror episodes themselves. An amalgamation of soap opera-like narrative and devils and demons. That's why I've never understood why she's so adverse to the horror genre. Ah well, to each their own, right?

Thanks for your awesome review. :)

This is quite amazing actually. So creative and interesting as a story. Love the Shelley tie ins, smooth and moves the story along and still sticks with the theme of the prompt. This was just killer. A well-earned win. I'll have to sharpen my pen or it's gonna be a long year!! mikey

I like the flow of this piece it is very conversational and yet poetic as well. Some great imagery with these penguins. The picture for this works a treat well done cheers

Well now... that took a sideways turn I wasn't really expecting. Ok... it is a "Dean" poem... now that I think about it, how else would Phyllis have possibly met her cute and cuddly little penguin family?

Ha! Ha! (I'm afraid to even ask where in the world you found such delightful art work to accompany this piece!)

PS - I knew 'Frankenstein' was the name of the doctor... not the monster!

I thought this was very funny only because I am familiar with the penguins. It did have an authentic air with the horror writing. Good imagery and loved the line about the soggy bodies. Great job. Good luck with the contest. Gretchen

Thanks so much, Gretchen. It is quite a contrast as to how the Phyllis' Penguin family is normally portrayed, isn't it? LOL.

    I truly appreciate your review, my friend. :}

Oh no! I can't believe that those cute penguins are anything evil or dangerous. You cannot convince me of that. But you made a nice attempt to do so.

'Tis true I'm afraid, my misguided friend, and that,s precisely what they want you to think. However, based upon what I've seen, well... I'd rather not think about it. LOL!

Thanks very much for your reviews, and be careful "out there!". ;)

Oh dear! I've been deceived! Can I ever trust another penguin?

    Sure, just not Phyllis's, heh-heh...
