Hello, my dear Debbie,

I reviewed this late last night, but when I hit save the screen froze. (Darn it!)

Debbie, I made it through breast cancer when the diagnosis looked quite ugly. So thankful. Since then I pull out my 'good china' and use my 'good' linen all the time.

Good for you, Debbie. I'm with you. Use that special perfume and all the lovely dresses and make every single day a special one.

Love from your fan,

Sonali xxx

Good one, Debbie. I hear ya. WE decide what days of our lives are special. We're funny, us human beings. We'll either deny ourselves something good for us or we'll shift to another extreme and spoil ourselves, thinking we are entitled to more than we actually need or should have.

Finding the proverbial Happy Medium and staying with it is tough for many of us!

Thanks for sharing!

Mike

Debbie:
Special is a state of mind, for sure. Just as having a good day can be.
I used to know a principal who always ended her conversation with
people with "make it a good day" - I thought that was such a great
way to send people off.
thanks for sharing

Your self-improvement essay should motivate readers to take out their clothes, jewelry and perfumes kept unused and reserved for special days for ages. It is pitiable mindset which prevents use of their possesions in their lifetime. There is excitement in turning an ordinary day into a special day whereas waiting for special days for months and years can be boring and frustrating.

Hey, Debbie,

This is sooooooo me since I got sick with FM and bad arthritis. I ask you, who needs to wear clothes when a long, over-sized T-shirt does the trick?? LOL. It seems like a rather a large no-brainer to me.

Really good story, I'm sure many more will identify with. Nicely done, my friend.

Cheers & Blessings

Debbie, this is so darn inspiring, I'm adding it to MY New Year's resolutions - you are so right, and don't we all tend to forget that simple fact? Life is what we make it, day by day. Bless you for sharing this wonderful story - what a refreshing 'twist' on carpe diem! :

It is so easy to get into a rut and wear the same old clothes if one is feeling down. But for your own pleasure and especially as you described it, dress up and enjoy your splendid clothes, you deserve it. Good, clear message and well expressed views. Enjoyable read. Faye

You are so right Debbie. I go around in my big housecoats and hardly ever bother to get dressed anymore. I used to wear dresses and high heels and tried to look 'special' every day.Even if I wore my boots and jeans. LOL Why not now? No one comes here and I don't go. Why bother?Well done. Nancy

Thank you. I think we should all be better to ourselves. As writers, we tend to live in solitude making it easy to wear the same old thing. Take care, my friend~Debbie

Bravo! Very well said. I have to admit guilt, too. I wear the same tees and sweatshirts all the time while my nice sweaters sit in drawers I never even open anymore. Today it's frrreezing at 2 degress F, and I have a nice warrrrm sweater but it was expensive. What am I saving it for??? I'm going to put it on hte moment I hit SAVE. I love your resolution.. good for you! :)

Due to my current situation a lot of this story hit close to home.

In reading, "I thought about those 'special' days and how many I probably have left to live. " I could not help but think, Wow. That's definitely me at the moment."

And the answer is, unless a miracle happens soon - is approx. 26, and counting. JW

The worst times in my life have usually been followed by something wonderful. Be optimistic, as hard as that is to do. Have a good evening, my friend~Debbie
