This is interesting that it starts with a beautiful tribute to the loveliness of a morning bloom then progresses to tell a darker side such a pretty thing.

This is a wonderfully penned sonnet and a great entry for this particular competition, great use of imagery and description and the turn on the ninth line is brilliant, I wish you really good luck in the contest my friend.

I did not know this information about the morning glory flower although I
am familiar with morning glory flowers - all this time I could have been
tripping (just kidding - not my style). This is a very intriguing sonnet - I
wish you luck in the contest. jan

Ah indeed...love's lustful 'taste of sin' in this prophetic and fateful sonnet
love poem as an alliteration to the morning glory flower and its potency
and intriguing beauty and allure, brilliantly creative presentation! Some
human loves possess such temptation and demise, recorded for centuries
by love torn lovers till there last breath and vanquished quest.
Terrific write, great for this contest. Best of luck...

Beautiful but deadly is the theme I sense here. Your sonnet form flows smoothly and I am sure the Bard would be proud. The analogy of the flower to romantic love is clear and comes through your words.

Technically, you have penned a fluid and smooth sounding sonnet. Nicely done! The turn that takes the reader to an unexpected darker place is very effective.

Good luck with the contest!

A totally beautiful poem, until the very end, the last three lines just killed the beauty. I think sex, but could be wrong was the sin. Sin, depends upon the circumstances. Still, a very well written poem. Shows definite talent. Well done! Les

Wow! I didn't know that about the Morning Glory. It's so full of beauty. I came across some wild ones in my own yard where there is a section of swamp. There only were white ones though. Your flower sonnet is delightful. Drew

A great piece to pull together all the beauty and evils of this mysterious flower. Thank you for sharing this piece, I look forward to reading other work of yours.

While I haven't drawn out the mystery in your third stanza, that seems to be part of the poem's majesty, and your last two rhymed lines intensified the mystery and lifted the entire poem brilliantly.

Thanks you for sharing it this New Year's day.
