This is an exceptionally well written post with good commentary of facts, description, build-up, rational & workable conclusions. The picture is right on! The only boo-boo that I noticed & wish I hadn't is a missed space.

The points are laid out in good order & stated ever so directly, succinctly, & truthfully. This is tough love in action & in words & anyone who reads it without bias will grow in understanding.

This is the only chapter that I have read; however, I am sure that if the other ones are as powerful as this one, then they can't help but be smash hits.

I can see this sent to the right people & it would be snatched up & published outright immediately.

Another chapter in a very thought provoking series of articles. I whole-heartedly agree about the education. In Northern Ireland for example, even in integrated (This refers to Catholic / Protestant - not colour), catholic children are taught separately from protestant children in the areas of history and religion thus giving a huge imbalance in what the children learn with a cultural slant. It is mind-boggling.

I now live in England and the media presents a very different picture based on their involvement in NI as opposed to local media.

Education and media presentation are massive issues.

I appreciate your writing of these articles which help to debase a lot of myth / misinterpretations or preconceived notions.

The articles are well written and flow well. Very informative.

This part of your argument is much weaker and is in desperate need of editing. Overall, you present some good points while smoothing over others. Crime is a reality that will not go away by wishing it to.

You have radical and interesting thoughts here, Lance. What do you suppose it would take to implement them? I can only imagine a ground-swell movement, when the ideas are promulgated by a rock star holding to the shirt-tails of a social guru. Like the Beatles and the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

Yes, that has been change for many years now. [CHANGED?]

Great ideas! I wish you could take them someplace meaningful.

Hi, Lance,

I have a hard time thinking the drug/alcohol problem is worse in the black community compared to the white. My youngest son is a living example that white people have as much trouble coping. My son is 44 and is pretty much lost. He spent years in jail for a crime he should have done far more time than he did. His victim plea-bargained so she wouldn't have to testify.

Heart-breaking on so many levels, my son shattered so many lives, hopes, and dreams by his actions. I'm sure he's left a lasting imprint on his victim, as well as her family. He's certainly shattered our family with his actions and chosen lifestyle.

I truly do NOT believe drugs/alcohol/crime is white or black or any color ---- it just is. Can we fix it? I'd like hope to hell we can, but in our present day society, I believe it is a pipe dream.

My son was raised in good, law abiding home. He had minor mental disabilities that was instrumental in his choosing his lifestyle. He was capable of saying, admitting to his shortcoming and dealing with them, get help, but instead chose the easy way out when big brother left for the Navy. He had choices and chose the easy and WRONG way to deal. Thereby, leaving a trail of woe that we all have paid dearly for.

I could go on, but suffice to say, everybody has choices to make in this life. We've become a society who does NOT want to follow rules. We don't like something, today's parents teach their kids to buck the system, whine till they get their way. When they don't, they lash out, and we the people in society pay for them going off on the deep end because they can't/ WON'T cope with life.

In years past, my husband taught 11th grade college prep classes. MOST of the kids work looked like 4th grade work, read like 4th grade, yet he was told he had to pass them. There was no such thing a failing a kid. HELLO!!!

You bring up many valid points. This is a six star all the way.

*Season's Greetings*

Cheers & Blessings
Keep Smilin'... Jax (*:*)
