This poem makes a poignant social commentary about the 'unhealthy habits' of kids nowadays. The obsession with video games and electronics has taken over their world. Hands on physical sports has been relegated to the back burner. Where all this will go is anybody's guess. Well done, Tom.

Lovely photo, that complements your poem very well. Nowadays the adults are somewhere and the children play on electronic devices. A Katie21 poem, nice.

Sad but true! I've also seen small children taking more pleasure in opening the wrappings than appreciating the gift inside the packaging. Thanks for adding your personal photograph and reviving the Katie21--I like its conciseness and "skinny" format. Smiles- Joan

True to point my friend..Football was our means of working off that stuffing.. and I mean the football that was not on TV LOL Think maybe the photos, though very good, might be getting a bit over sized as they are coming through rather blurred. Had the same happen to mine till I found the reduce the pixel button on here.

So true--at my age we didn't have electronics--we enjoyed what the outdoors had available to offer; electronic devices not always in our best interests.

Thank you Margaret. Yes, it's kind of sad. Yet they are learning the skills neccessary for tomorrow's cyber world, i guess.

You hit the nail on the head. We had a B+W tv that only got one channel when I was a kid, so I had to make my own fun, fishing, hunting, exploring, etc. Inside the house, I drew pictures or fiddled with wires and gadgets, trying to make a radio, electric motor, or whatever. All those things taught me valuable lessons. (And kept me fit) I don't know where this world is headed, but it doesn't look good.

This my friend I can relate to. My child is nineteen and she hates going out. I like this poem and the picture as well. Thank you for sharing.

A powerful write in just 21 words. I like this as I used to do posters for special events. The key to making a power packed poster was to have a message that makes its point in only a short glance. Too many times, we tend to over use words and the power of the poem went right out of the window. Blessings, Patricia
