Hah, okay, Steve. Why did I even bother to enter this contest. My meager entry can't compete with the likes of this alliteration laden laugh fest! This was hilarious, and read a great deal like one of my personal faves, Dr. Suess, although you've probably heard that a few times today. Then again...maybe not.

Anyhow, it was funny and clever. It uses many poetic devices.

I'll bet you that you've got yourself the winner here! :D

Thanks, Dean - I did have fun with this.

I'm not sure it's what the committee are looking for in this contest, but I'll cross my fingers they are feeling in a jolly mood when they read this!

Party time with a grand old parade. This is very well written with a good rhyming scheme. There is a gala of words, making for a fund readd.

How serendipitous--I just use "gobbledygook" in a review (in a good way) and wondered if I spelled it correctly! You transported me with your storytelling and use of alliteration and wonderful rhymed couplets and rhythm. Cheers- Joan

My spelling and yours both appear in dictionaries I see....

yes, I have fun with the sounds and playful words in these poems - the hardest part is keeping that up while weaving in a story-line.

Steve; you have tactful alliteration's in "Feast of Fandango's",
"Minstrels and music", "Magog the Magician", "markets and minstrels", "Pablo Portmanteau", "Flamboyant flamingos", "gymnastic giraffe's" and could be more that I missed. It seems that these alliteration's makeup the heart and soul of your poem which makes it easy and fun to read.
The rhyming is done very well and neither forced nor labored and helps with the rhythmic flow which seems to flow smoothly throughout the writing.
There are massive amounts of imagery that is very descriptive and quite expressive throughout your writing. "And Hilda cheers loudly, the loudest of all, Then turns to her neighbor, a chap who's quite tall." Just a small part of the imagery within the poem but very descriptive.
I enjoyed reading your short tales and stories that are remarkably fun and you seem to have a very inventive and ingeniously creative imagination which is definitely seen resourcefully through your writing.
Thank you for sharing and posting and may the Lord always be with you.

Sir, I award you with a knighthood for your services to poetry.

This is absolutely wonderful. You are indeed the master of rhyme and metered balance. And how you do that with those absurd and amazing names is truly beyond me.

I'm still walking around with a smile on my face and I read it fifteen minutes ago. Great poem, Sir Steven

Bob - you will give me such a swelled head that I won't deign to mingle with commoners like you!

I do have a lot of fun with these poems - some reviewers question the use of 'big' words in a kids' poem, but that's just how they come out and I firmly believe children can follow a story without knowing every single word and it's one way they learn.

That is quite some parade. Love the colourful characters all doing their stuff and trying to outdo the others. Great lilting rhyme and was a fun read. Good luck in the contest. Faye

Time to take your granny nap, I think.

Dust has settled a bit and you've got the classic view back.... all is well with the FanStory world again.
