Oh dear I think I'll give sestinas a miss as they sound extremely complicated and I try to avoid fleas lol. I found your sestina well written and amusing.

Many thanks for your review, Wendyanne, and for your kind comments about my Sestina.

You're right Tony, I don't think I'll try this one, well not until I can write one anyway, you must like to punish yourself, sort of poetic flagellation or verbal crucifixion! I do admire what you have done here, I sort of read the form at the bottom, and immediately, I took it that it wasn't for me, well done you! My eternal admiration, blessings, Roy.

Thanks very much for this entertaining review, Roy. Poetic flagellation indeed!

Well, Tony, I don't know of the form but it seems as though it takes much deliberation.
A great take , on what I would call , writer's block. I love the personalization and the characteristics of certain entities. Good metaphors. Great humor.
How you thought this one up, I'll never know. A creative brain indeed.
Best wishes,
RG

Tony;
a very unique, fresh and distinctly new approach to poetry and I enjoyed reading this type of poetry very much.
Directly connects the reader with the poet and presents and intimate relationship between poet and reader.
And at times the reader actually feels for the writer and that the fact that he has fleas but then after reading the authors notes to find that the complexity of the poem Shirley is not affected by the how much gin he did drink.
Thank you so much for sharing and posting and may I suggest less gin and some flea powder.

I very much enjoyed your review, Alex! You are absolutely right! Gin and poetry don't mix. I've borrowed the dog's flea powder, just in case I feel moved to write another sestina some time.

You make me laugh very much Tony. Can you take care and have a good one.

I think I'll begin with a gin and then attack the fleas with such a complexity that I'll scratch all over, then decide not to begin. This poem puzzle opens our doors to a different world of imagination - full of poetic nonsese. A truly enjoyable stuff.

I enjoyed your review, Ravim! I seem to have inspired quite a flea circus with my gin-sodden sestina !

Tony: it is late at night and my mind just won't bend around all the rules for this type of poem. What I do know is that fleas stabbed with a pen are a complexity and that I had a great deal of fun reading it . . . whatever it is.
Good work; I think. Linda

Many thanks, Linda. Glad you enjoyed it! I think the rules were more complicated than the poem!

LMAO! :-)
Oddly, it never dawned on me that the sestina form only "recommends" lines of equal length! This particular layout is so much more fun and free!!
I loved both the narrative and the fact that it modernized this rather onerous form, opening it to all kinds of possibilities :-)
Very nicely done. . .I wish it weren't so late in the week (too much spare time on my hands, I guess. . .the 6 star bucket is floating :-(

Many thanks for your review, Leineco. I was quite relieved not to be constrained by an even meter as well on this, my first attempt at the form. Perhaps I'll try a more conventional one now that I've had a chance to cut my teeth.

Ah, a flawless (or is it flealess) sestina. I was just in the mood for this piece of clever nonsense. Don't think I have ever seen a humorous sestina before - they tend to be vastly serious.
I have had a go, but have never felt drawn to repeat the painful exercise - just one of those things to try like a jigsaw puzzle without the picture and with no edges or corners!
Hope you feel better after having scratched this!

Thanks, Steve. This form, as you say, is a bit like a jigsaw. I tried to do it seriously but gave up, relapsing into this comic send-up, which was far more fun to write. I appreciate the six stars.
