I just became a fan, and so glad after I saw the post about this poem I just had to read it. Well done, so true. I hope to get rid of my own fleas, Perhaps I will start with chalk.

That was a real hoot to read. I laughed and laughed as i read each verse that got more hilarious as it went on. Very clever. Definitely conveyed the experience of writing a destination. Reminded me that i havent written one in a while. And why.

Thanks, Tom. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I tried to write a serious one initially but gave up the unequal struggle and lapsed into this bit of comedy instead. I appreciate your six stars. Very kind.

This was a helluva lot of fun. Hahaha. It was a ball to read and, YES, I am crazy enough to check it! You actually did all of that. Wow, what a complex thing. Those French! This made sense and was highly entertaining AND you managed to follow all of the rules and nail it! All I can say is, BRAVO!! mikey

Thanks. Mikey. This was fun to write and a bit of a joke. I might try a 'proper' one some day. Glad it entertained you!

Well this is an interesting item.

You stayed true to the appropriate 39 line style while maintaining the repetitive edge.

I have not had the pleasure of reading many of these sestinas, so I cannot truly critique this style of prose, but knowing your skills ... it must be top notch. ;)

I thoroughly enjoyed the flea idea, and the very human way that you spin the writ.

Well done my friend, Whitemorn :)

Totally confused by the end of your author notes, I was only slightly less expectant of an explanation by the poem itself. (Comment doesn't make sense?) Give me time, Tony, the brain is catching up slowly. I found this one too hard to manage and I take my hat off to you for completing it. I'll take your word that the format is right and I congratulate you on completing such a weird composition, Giddy

Weird is about right! I started off trying to write a serious one but then collapsed into comedy.

I really liked the poem. Great fun art work that you chose.

And causes some scratching out with his pen,
As if his poem has fleas.[love these lines]

Hi Tony,

I'm not familiar with this format, but I can certainly tell a lot of effort went into writing this. I must also praise you for your originality and intelligent humor!

I've been struggling with my writing and my cat has been struggling with fleas - really. I haven't seen any on the paper soaked with ink, but I've been dealing with a lot of dead ones on her bedding. Maybe I should apply some of her medication to the back of my neck and I'll start writing again, lol.

Hugs,
Lou

Sounds like me last night up until 4:00 a.m. trying to get down the right words. And I still itch. The grid in your author notes- a form that resembles sudoku is beyond me. Great humor and wit in making your sestina woes conform to form.

Many thanks, Ed. It is far nobler to stay up until 4am writing poetry than drinking gin!
