My own hot mess - yep. And how many times do we have to pick up after ourselves? Oh, to be left-brained, everything organized and pitch-perfect in temperament...No thanks.

a mess is matter out of place! like keeping shoes on the dinner table, the kitchen is a limited space where cookery goes on. we tend to compartialise things, they have an order to what to be in.
thank you for sharing!
good luck in the contest!

What an amusing poem on a theme as mundane as mess! You have made the poem livelier with categorisation of messes -cold, hot, small and big. One cannot wish away messes in life. So, why make fuss about mess. Best of luck for the Contest.

Any poem extolling mess is a winner in my book. I was absolutely delighted when the chaos theory was first proposed. Suddenly it made sense of my life. Bravo! Hot mess or cold mess - I really don't mind. Mess is comfortable until of course it reaches such gargantuan proportions that you can't find yourself.

Anything to be in the middle of a well fought duel. Certainly, a big a enough mess will cause undue stress and intention in the home.
But be the bigger and shrug it off and have them clean up their own messes.

To the author of "Hot Mess". You've addressed several kinds of emotions and the fact that messes can cause you stress. But, I was expecting a poem about a particular mess like dropping a bowl of flour on the floor, which I recently did! Ha. Good work. Good luck in the contest. Carole

This meets the contest requirements nicely. This is well penned and thoroughly entertaining as you point out beautifully how messes are in the eye of the beholder. I wish you all the best in the voting and thank you so much for sharing this with me.

It started off kind of rough; it was hard to find the rhythm. Then around the third stanza, it came together. Love your hat. It takes a good picture.

The words hot mess was covered in the poem. I read that in urban a hot mess is a mess but the beauty and etc. still
is there. So, in other words it doesn't effect others.
Very good and I am sure people will enjoy reading about
what a hot mess is. This is a good topic, I will have to read more about it.
Good luck with the poem.

Hello messy author,
This is a clever entry to the contest prompt, What A Mess!
And if you are indeed a mess,
there is something here I'd like to address.
Messy authors are likely those
who have the greatest success with prose.
So continue on and gum up the works
with messy words and disheveled quirks.
For who can question your lofty pen
in this gallant world of messed up men?
From one messed up poet to another. ;) Chrisfiore
