Wow, I wore a mask for years, and I am sure I still do. We all hide behind something, but writing allows us to take that mask off a bit, and reveal what's inside.

Enough of that. This is superb, and I'm giving up a six for it. Lovely read...blessings...

An incredible piece of truth Dean. I find that when I wear my own mask, the things I concentrate on writing do not ring true. And so it is for other aspects nof life.nYour poem is spot on. Your rhyme scheme is natural and unforced giving your powerful voice authenticity. You are a fine poet Dean.

Dear Dean, Great message within your lines. As always there is both moments that pause my thoughts as I take in your lines more deeply. This one reached me, and I'm sure will remind us all "be true to yourself"

I could never figure out the whole point in hiding from "self" mask or any other way, it just speaks of living and walking a false path.

Great job on this one. Your pics damn scary as always. Images and detail in this work was wonderful, strong and held some key wisdom for us to ponder. I enjoyed it.
Rough journey at the moment so little reviewing time, glad I could read this one my friend.
Thanks for sharing.

Good use of aabb rhymes
We do mask something at sometime or another. Can't think of what I'm hiding LOL
Good use of alliteration-some sneaky, saddened, sullen sleuth --
well paired picture and poem

Scary pictures that reinforce your theme well--yes, we all wear masks! I admired your rhymed couplets in these quatrains and your alliteration of "s's". Cheers from one of "Nero's bards!! -Joan

My very favorite poem by my favorite poet is "The Mask" by Paul Lawrence Dunbar.
In his excellent poem he speaks of African Americans wearing a mask that hide their true feelings at being treated as second class beings. He justifies the wearing of this mask as a protection against further abuse. My favorite line is "Let them only see us while we wear the mask"
Excellent effort. Congratulations.

    Thank you, Nomi, I sincerely appreciate your feedback. I would have to agree with the esteemed Mr. Dunbar, we all wear masks, and for very different reasons, I feel.

    Thanks again for your R&R.

Excellent piece with quite the befitting photos. Very encouraging and observant no doubt, and the words seem to rush the reader onto a new frontier with a zeal to explore. Can't help but wonder if we don't hide behind masks, at least to a certain extent, because most folks, if they were honest, (and some are blatantly thus), really don't care to see what's behind the coverup.

Excellent work. Your use of AABB rhyme is terrific, and it flows smoothly. Masks worn to hide the truth is very true. Like Nathaniel Hawthorne's minister, everyone wears that black veil. Very encouraging words in the last stanza--the real you shines when unfettered by the mask. People may try to hide things from a sense of guilt, when maybe they have nothing to feel guilty about. this is certainly thought-provoking. judi

Gotta give this a six. I this is simply superb, Dean. We all like to hide a little. I think sometimes I am to transparent. Perhaps, I need to hide a bit. LOL

Sometimes, we try to spare others by hiding true feelings. It is sad to think of people who hide pain and family and friends haven't a clue.

    That's very true, Cajungirl, and many don't learn of the pain they're hiding until it's far too late.

    I sincerely appreciate your excellent feedback and rating.

    All the best, my friend. :}

Dean;
excellent tempo and meter in your rhythm, superb choice of words in your rhyming, progressive alliteration in "some sneaky, saddened sullen sleuth---strip", outstanding descriptive and expressive imagery, resourceful creative and inventive imagination and wonderful choice of pictures that represent and complement your poem. These are the traits and qualities that I found in your writing that surely when all compose together create a most desirable piece of reading which is also enjoyable.
One thing in question though, off the side and off the record: it seems that if one has the idea that everyone wears masks it feels that the one who is pretentiously saying it shows a little bit of insecurity of peak of other people. Why believe there are some that don't wear masks and there are many people in the past such as Jesus, Mohammed and Siddhartha. Though we can go follow then a big discussion about it because it can all fall under a common discussion of relative syntax and
relativity that is commonplace.
Thank you for sharing this Dean you have made me contemplate the subject matter of a mask and how many people where and if they do or not.
