A good story of how over time we see things differently and can be more gracious. Well written and deftly explained, some strong emotional reflections giving your story a diary quality.
I loved the antique ring on the mink shawl.

You certainly got my attention! Great story worthy of a six, but I don't have one:-( Still, I see zero flaws here. I like the spirit of reconciliation in this, especially.
Thanks for sharing.

A great story, I did believe there was truth in it. Most of the stories based on reality are the best ones. I is better to disrupt the wedding the guests the bridesmaids and the all that goes with cancelling a wedding. Time will always tell it has been the best decision.
Well written, I enjoyed it.

this is an excellent write, mystery writer, great imagery shown through your words about the broken relationship that turned out to be a blessing in the end, and for the regrets of not letting him know it was for the best. good luck in the contest.

Beautiful in its travesty. You humiliate by offering something BIG. Hurt pride, hurt the peace of his marriage. That's a brave new angle. On second thoughts, will he bother? Yes, only if he has some tinge of love left for you. Otherwise, he will feel lucky that he got the cheque. But, I confess, there are many different diamensions. You win.

This is a wonderful story. Only, if only this would happen more maybe we would see less divorces and fewer children hurt because of parents who were not committed to each other. Sure a heart will be broken for a while, but hearts can be more broken in a marriage that is just not right. Blessings to you. Pat

This is a painful situation yet you show the benefits of not pursuing the marriage which would have broken up anyway. You analyze the situation and see that it was better this way.
Wish you all the best in the contest

Wow that really was an emotionally riveting read. Thank you for sharing. I could feel the raw emotion in every line. The fact that it was true and this does happen to people really jars me.

Anything happens for a reason, and I believe in that. So in any case like this, no regrets and see things positively. When we hurt someone, surely we can make up for it and do some gesture that would lessen the pain or return the confidence or trust that was involved behind it.
You did a good job in writing this poem within the context of hurting someone, narrating the pain and regrets you shared until the conclusion of this poem. Thanks for sharing.} Lin

Oh, Ben....that is really a shame....and the sad part of it is that the person hurt ends up doing the hurtful thing.
