When your favorite friend goes to Heaven it seems as if you have lost a part of yourself.
Nice flow and without imagery you still are able to convey your feelings.

Losing a beloved pet is just as traumatic as losing a human member of lour family. They are loving and loyal friends who provide us with unconditional joy and love. When the die, it leaves a huge, gaping hole in our lives, and in our hearts. One that simply acquiring another dog, cat, or whatever that pet might be, cannot completely fill.

I can only imagine, and you're very welcome.
My best friend is my ten-year old Chihuahua, Gidget. Her age is beginning to show now, and I've had her since she was just three weeks old. Her momma died giving birth to her from complications due to delivery, and I've had to teach her everything from going to the bathroom, to how to eat solid foods when she was a wee pup. When she goes, I'm sure it will nearly kill me.

Hi Poet,
I know what you mean about having writer's block. It seems I've been going that route too. I'm so glad this Tetractys contest prompted you to write a poem for Bella your dog who passed. It's so difficult to lose our pets. I know because I lost my dog too.

I am so sorry for the loss of your dear friend. I also haven't written anything in a long time. Deep emotion is definitely a strong motivation to once again put pen to paper and share your thoughts and feelings.

This was a new genre for me, so I read each poem to get a better handle on Tetractys. I loved this poetic piece... your words described my daughter perfectly. She lives far away and we don't have the chance to see each other often, but her presence lingers in my heart. Thank you for a wonderful reminder and a beautifully written poem. Sadness has a way of bringing out our emotions and putting them into words. Very well written with such sadness. It's truly like losing a family member. Losing our "Lucy" in April of 2011 still stings. I pray for your strength through this very sad time.
