Let 'er rip baby! A brilliant tribute to the evil possession of software...and hardware. These items are designed to provide us with information, not to simplify our lives. They are all consuming. Your story is intelligent and cerebral and packed with satirical humor. Just a brilliant write my friend.

    Hey Rod,

Glad you liked my mini rant. It was a therapeutic write for me.

You are so right, these devices are designed to provide us with information, not to simplify our lives.

I think the darker side is that they are in bed with the pharmaceutical companies who produce blood pressure meds. :=)

Thanks so much for your review.

An excellent rant. Your points are quite valid. The Apple corporation expects nothing less than total obedience. That's why they can release the iPhone 6 and claim it is a technological breakthrough when all it really is is a cheap knockoff of a Samsung Galaxy. I myself have fallen for the apple shine, and had an iPhone at one time. But no more. If I want my brainwashed I'll do it the old fashioned way, by watching hours on end of TV.
Your essay was quite well written, thought provoking, and funny. Excellent job.

    Hey Michael,

Steve Jobs always said that he didn't believe in reinventing the wheel; that he took existing ideas/platforms and improved upon them. Guess these days Apple has decided to take the lazy route and stooped to doing knockoffs and releasing them with their usual hyperbole.

I love this: "If I want my brainwashed I'll do it the old fashioned way, by watching hours on end of TV." It's so true!

Glad you enjoyed this post. I equally enjoyed your review.

"I didn't plop down my hard earned greenbacks for an overpriced phone, only to have it patronize me." You're a riot. This is such a fun read I wish it were longer. I don't think I've ever written this in a review before. LOL! Funny, witty, sharp, terse, ironic, edgy. I'm friggin' loving it.

BTW, I read somewhere that Steve Jobs scored high on the sociopathic score sheet. So, maybe you're right about the boy!

Ah, that was such fun. "The simple act of plucking a feather from a goose's ass, dipping it in ink...." Ha ha ha! That was terrific. Loved it. Wish I had a 6.

Not to worry about a 'six', your review was worth that and more.

Glad to know they actually quantified Steve's 'sociopathic' personality. I think that bugger stayed up nights thinking of all the ways to screw with our heads.

I'm so happy you found my mini rant amusing. It was what I was shooting for. I mean, who wants to hear a person grouse nonstop without at least a chuckle or two.

Thanks again for your really great and entertaining review.

Oh, I wish I might be able to argue, but - I cannot. I too am an Apple-addict, but it started, and has continued for one simple reason....I don't buy Apple, I buy their service. I pay for 24-7 support with English speaking, young men and woman that treat me like a queen (even if they are laughing their asses off while muting their headsets.) I will argue with Apple issues because they are there for me.

I refuse to buy Dell etc. and be usb-cabled to some maniac in Pakistan that doesn't give a flying shit about my concerns. Guess I should write my own little rant - whaddya think?

I feel your pain! AT=/

    Hi AT,

I do think you should consider doing a piece about your Dell experience, I bet it would be a riot.

Glad to know that Apple support centers employ 'native' English speakers. I don't have Apple support for my MacBook Pro, I have the Geek Squad, but they provide excellent support. I'm certain I give them their laugh for the day when I call up with my various problems. They have had to talk me off the ledge more than once.

I do hope to see a post from you on this subject sometime.

    I thoroughly enjoyed your review.

HAHAHAHA! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this hilarious and very witty write. Not only does it make perfect sense to me that we should take up quill again, you've expressed the angst and outright frustration I am experiencing (and have been since giving up my dear Corolla).

Wish I had a six left this week. If ever a rant deserved one...(LOL) Terrific satire.

OUTSTANDING! *************************!!!

    Hi Dawn,

Thanks so much for your great review. Whenever my frustrations hit the high water mark, I fire off a bit of biting satire (my favorite flavor).

I'm glad you found it entertaining.

A very good write. Apple was the first computer I used at the school when I began to learn how to use a computer. I have to say I loved using it. I have since bought computers and they are not Apple. I love my laptop, it is like an extension to my right arm. But I also love my pen and note book that I carry everywhere in my bag.
Regarding to labels I was never drawn into that thinking.

We do need our computers in this day and age. If not we would lose out on an awful lot.

Well written
Mary

I agree, we do need our computers. I loved my old computer, but when it died I decided to try a MacBook Pro. While there are some good features about it, mostly it just frustrates the heck out of me.

I too carry a pen and notebook with me, even though my phone has an App for notes.

I'm glad you found this worth the read and I thank you for your review.

Don't let Apple drive you to drink. Get an Android. I don't know; perhaps you would never stoop so low. Maybe you are right. It is better to use pen and paper. At least they won't change what you write.

    Hi Joe,

Trust me, next time round I will definitely get an Android ... No more Apple for me.

I agree, with good old fashion paper and pen one never had to worry about one's words being changed.

Thanks for the read, I greatly appreciate it.

Even though I didn't understand much of this technical jargon, I plead guilty to two things, computer incompatibility and age, I believe I understood your message. Apples should be ate, turned into cider and not computed.

I loved your rant. Let's reverse progress. Ssergorp, pronounced sirgorp, makes as much sense to me as Microsoft.

So true, Bob, apples should be eaten or turned into cider and not have anything to do with computing.

I'm all for reversing progress ... if you gather the geese, I'll bring the ink wells!

I enjoyed your humorous review very much.

    Thank you!

I thoroughly enjoyed this sort of comical rant, fueled by a degree of frustration that, I'm sure all of us have felt on occasion, if not always. Well written, and entertaining. Great job. :-)

I ignore Apple. They've sent some big mean goons after me, but I've scared them off with huge photos of me naked, pasted all over the outside of my house.

Thanks for sharing your work!

Mike
