I don't know who rated you down so much. I think the photo complements your poem very well. It rhymes and has good flow. It tells about the early days and then later.

good consonance of hard C sound in cards stacked and others

Average

I like the pervading sense of loss and regret. It's a sad poem and suggests painful rites of passage. I'm not sure about the opening line though. It doesn't seem to connect with line two and I don't feel that it's strong enough.
