Thanks for your review. Hi friend not sure we have met before. Yes it is as is Christmass that was introduced by the RCC and probably from Clement the guy who proclaimed Christianity as the "?official" religion adding in his own Pagan beliefs as well Ho hum. We all know that Christ was NOT born on Dec 25th. I have Carols someplace if you wanna look especially the most recent one.
reply by emrpoems on 30-Oct-2014
I do not celebrate Christmas either. That too has pagan origin. I am aware that Christ was not born on 25th Dec but that was the day that the pagans worshiped their Sun God. So we agree we should not be indulging in these
practices. you know what i can't understand we know these things are wrong yet we perpetuate them. Be blessed

Well I agree but as I thi k I said before we use the day for evangelistic purposes. After all we know that Christ was born and if you look at my Christian Christmas Carols on FS I clearly state the reason for His coming. Look for Really Truly Christian Christmas Carols. You will see the reason I wrote them sort of same reason I wrote this poem about Halloween. Good to have another new FS friend. God Bless.

    Got your point.

I stuffed up on where Christmas came from I said Clement but it was Constantine made "Christianity the official religion including Christmass with his pagan element included. Senior moment sorry.
reply by emrpoems on 30-Oct-2014
I understood what you meant. The Bible says we are not to worship the way the pagans worship and the world continues to do just that.i spoke with a catholic priest once about this and he told me he knew it was wrong but it would be too hard to change it now because it is so universal. Can you imagine that?
reply by the author on 30-Oct-2014
Yeah we may even see some Catholics in Glory ha! I always tell Catholics who are saved and feel they need to stay 'in the system' that they are like the burning coal amongst all the cold ashes of a fire. A burning love coal needs other burning alive coals to keep burning brightly ho hum.

Halloween I agree, is a rather pointless celebration--all of the candy--good health is promoted, then our children are loaded down with all of these sweets in one night;
Well-penned thoughts on holiday cheer--both in two different parts of the world--yes, Halloween is not celebrated in Australia, nor in parts of Europe.
I enjoyed your poem--much to ponder.

Thanks for coming by. They do try to do it here (Australia)probably not to the extent as in America but of course everything gets the "full monty" treatment in Uncle Sam the home of Capitalism well at one time ha!

Many of our churches here have what some call Holy Wing instead of the other. Kids are kept in an atmosphere of peac and love with fun at the same time.. Not all but a few do this. This is good , Bro. My blessings to you.

Hi Bro someone else said that too. We have Christmas Day services here but only because it is probably one of the times in the years folks will come to church and an opportunity for evangelism.

True. How will they know if not exposed to the real thing. Glad they come and learn.
I posted a new poem for the contest History Buff.. It is called Sand Creek if you care to comment. Blessings to you.

I really like the title, it practically rhymes....Along with a good satire poem about your views on Halloween ..Well, I think it has got out of hand, too, the last couple of years, with the marketing here in the US...I guess in Australia, ..And, though the perfect holiday for the dentist the next couple of weeks or months now...And, definitely nod my head to the last stanza.

Thanks for sharing, it was a good read....Caressa

I enjoyed your poetic excerpt Geoff, your poem is well said, I guess the hypocrisy that pervades our society is manifold, we won't let our children to watch horrors and yet we let it in the back door! Never mind, we're here in the U.S. And it's much worse, in Australia it's only a sideshow, here it's the main event! Well done, Geoff, unusual rhyming that works well, the rhythmic meter was good, well written, I enjoyed it, blessings, Roy.

Thanks Bro Roy ain't that the truth though. Society is fickle. We take precautions one way then let it all hang out in many others. God Bless thanks for your review.

It is ironic that celebrating the nigh of the dead and the birth of the Christ Child is less than two months apart. This is very well written.

I love this poem, Geoff. It's obvious how strongly you feel about the subject and it shows amply in your verse.

I know our church calls it a Fall Festival, not Halloween, since it is more a celebration of the dark side of the spirit.

This is worthy of my last-but-one 6. WORTHY OF IT, friend!

You are right of course. ChristMASS was invented by Constantine I think when he started the Catholic church. Inserting some paganism in there as well of course. We know for sure Christ was NOT born on December 25th. SOme churches in America will not hold Christmas Day services due the the pagan origins of Christmas. We have services here because it is one of the few days pelpe, will probably come to a church sedrvice so a tool of evangelism.First poem from me?? Hmmm have to give you some links to my others. I will write you a note with the Links to my poems. What about my Christmas Carols have you seen those? Thanks for the review first cab off the rank as we say here.
