In reading your author notes, I had a nun for a music teacher, that was many years ago, but I still remember her well;
Another well-crafted poem by Fanstory's master of horror;
"Beware the stare of Sister Green"--the eyes always seem to speak more than words, the religious are no exception.

I thought I was the only one weird-ed out by nuns. A phobia developed at an early age, while watching them walk in groups from the house old where they lived, to the church. Everyone said the house was haunted. The yard infested with snakes. Thanks for another fun poem. :-)

    See? Then I'm not alone in my morbid fear of these habit-wearing women. I was beginning to wonder, LOL...

    Thanks so much, Ric. I really appreciate the review. :}

Always excellent, Dean. An expressive poem about nun school teachers. I know scores of people who recount similar stories and fears such as your poem.
Don't know where you got the image - but it was perfect, as well as the childish, creepy music.
You are so creative and clever.Well done.

This is a true beauty Dean. Lovely scary picture that complements your series of Minute poems ever so well. I was never at a Catholic school, so I can't judge this. An utmost original idea. Best wishes for the contest.

    Thanks so much for your review and comments, Ine. I appreciate your well-wishes for the contest, too. I never fare too well with the faceless entity here known only as (drum roll, please...) The FanStory Voting Committee. I do much better with my peers.

    Have yourself a super day, my friend. :)

Hi Dean, this is a great minute poem my friend, sufficiently fiendish as ever, I was going to write about the Nuns of the 20c laundry houses in Ireland, heard some pretty grim tales back here, brilliant presentation and rhyming, good luck in the competition my friend.

Well, Dean, I can't blame you for being frightened of nuns when you were a child, especially if they were wearing those habits. (Way too similar to Dracula's cape.) The musical background you chose is a nice touch. It's rather like a nursery song with ominous notes at the end. Good job. Hugs, Lou

How marvellously creepy! I thought this was a wonderfully atmospheric and eerie entry to the Minute contest. How you managed to track down that picture of my old Geography teacher, I will never know, Dean!

Once again, you entertain and delight us with a high quality work that is truly the full package. Delightful.

Kindest of regards,

Julie :-)

I've worked with nuns for 40 years. Most are saintly, some creepy. They were strict in the old days, and combined with the funny clothes and bedevilled warnings, I'm not surprised they scared you. Perhaps, they would have been easier to cope with, if you'd not been reading Edgar Allan Poe under the desk. LOL.

Love your minute poem for its inventiveness and the great finish, but I'm going to close my eyes now, and try not to see Sr Mary that way. I have to turn up at work tomorrow.

Good luck with this.

I think we have all heard tales such as this. Maybe there are some like that but I think underneath the coverings are mostly dedicated souls. Two little darlings that I have provided child care to started Catholic school this year. I was a bit concerned when it comes to the disciple, but they are adjusting just fine. The little girl brought home a picture of herself in the school uniform and her wearing a crown. I thought, "Well, it didn't take her long to get that straightened out."
