Hi snodlander, I was thinking about getting a few chickens myself, endless supply of eggs etc, but after reading your beautifully written story I think I'll give it a miss, Great writing my friend!

Guess the hens can't be bothered unless there's a cockerel around. I can dig it. LOL!
But the five Euro cage just didn't cut it. A bargain is not always a bargain. That'll teach him to sing in the middle of the night. I met a few roosters in Portugal who would also have benefitted from a middle of the night visit. Lots of blind roosters there.

Very cute story. I wondered what they were going to do to help a blind chicken.
This story was well done. It had the feel of a parable. Your characters were well written and relatable. I think after a while of not sleeping, I would've 'helped' that rooster in the same way.

Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it. One of my neighbours has chickens but thankfully no cock. My Aunt gave up on the chickens after the incident.
