You're right. We've all had this experience. Once should be enough. LOL
Best of luck in the contest with this chilling reminder of a devouring relationship.

Hi Dean, You have done a great job in writing this poem about how a fatal attraction can be so bad for us. Some of us learn and some continue attracting the wrong relationships. AS usual your creativity is commendable. Fare thee well.

Well done
Mary

Beautifully written, Dean. There are times when we let our heart rule instead of our heads/ I've been there just glad I caught my head before the I dos were said. LOL

Strong imagery of how possessive love or lust consumes and destroys both the lover and the beloved.
You captured the darkness in your excellent rhymes and lines and coupled it with a very strong art choice.
Dark and dreary.... excellent.

Sometimes there's a certain attraction to love that's evil, and so wrong. Great alliteration which just never lets up. The rhyming is smooth, as your poem caught me in its spell. Wonderfully written. Good luck with the contest. Les

Fair-Thee-Well~ This is quite a good poem you have created here for an contest entry. I have seen too many a time when partners choose each other at great risk to themselves. Well done.

Thanks very much, Gary, and I have been in a few of those volatile relationships myself a time or two. Never again...

I truly appreciate your very kind review and exceptional rating.

I really like the Edgar Allan Poe-like feel to your rhymes in an updated and modern way. The layout and pictures you find are always so evocative of the words. And I totally agree with your author notes too. I've been there and been burned like everyone else. Great work, Dean! Best wishes, Pete :)

How often I've flirted with danger! To me, it has often been the proverbial spice...Life can get sooo boring so quickly. Need the proverbial quick fix...As an addict, I can relate very strongly to this fine poem!

hey Dean...this did not show up in my inbox...ah, it was a blind entry...I gues
I love this...and the reference to the succubus...hate to admit it...but, I have been there...and the poem reads true and shivers my timbers when i think of the fool I was...but the lust, but the lust, it did so ring true
Now I am older and wiser...or perhaps just don't have the energy of youth:-)

I know exactly what you mean, padu. When my wife has on occasion accused me of having an affair, I can't help but laugh. One woman is enough, so why in God's name would I want to add another?

    Thanks for the review.

Hi Dean...LOL...I hear ya...I would rather have a quiet coffee and read a trashy novel...that is about the extent of my 'wandering'....padumachitta

Well, you're not going to hear this from anyone else but me: if you ever are attacked by something resembling the subject of that picture, bombard it with imaginary bolts of lightening. Since entities are comprised of energy, just our mental projection of a disruptive bolt is enough to disarm them. And call on Jesus and the angels. The last line is disturbing to me because it's the surrendering of personal power that can lead to possession. It could be pure entertainment if it weren't so REAL (for some of us, anyway).

You're right...for some of us, flamingstar. I've been there in the past, but thank God I wizened up.

    Thanks so much for the review.:}
