I found this to be quite original. That is an exceptional and memorable line: "O mother dear" carries in the wind from cries as men go down," There is so much to ponder about it when it comes to the senselessness and the horrible sacrifice of war. How could anything be worth the life of a mother's son or daughter? It isn't. One of the best I've read from you. Well done. mikey

So very real, and that makes it even more sad. So many dying, young and old. And I do believe that many think of their mother toward the end. I believe that God cries for each loss soul. War is the devil's work, not His. Strong words with a strong message, and a great write. . .Sharon

Beautifully said and what a true message. The heartache and woes, the youthful and the brilliant stars of grace. I didn't see any spelling errors but one point of tense; (these field or this field or these fields).

I like the message. It was very touching, considering the circumstances within the scheme. But you could have been more creative. I know other people might have praised this, but I think that, for the message that you were presenting you could have put more effort into making the reader feel what you were saying. Nevertheless, the message was very powerful. Keep writing.

This is lovely - rhymes very nicely and flows smoothly as you read it.

Your last line: We fell and died upon this field in sight of God and grace - is truly beautiful and ties up the entire poem.

Again, lovely. AT=/

Great job on this poem. I love it. The photograph with the red flowers just seems to suit the poem. Many people have lost loved ones during war time. It's very sad, but very true, also.

This was a nice poem. The rhyme of it flowed easily and the message is firm. All men and women are brave as we fall and die upon this land in the sight of God and grace..Fighting a continuous battle of war and love.

Hey there Gary
I regret that I have squandered all of my 6's. This is exquisite. In so many ways reminds me of us kids in Vietnam.

Great line: We fell and died upon this field in sight of God and grace.
