Hi Brooke,

Quite the story - and name, which there are quite a lot of unpronounceable ones in the bible.

I remember going to Vacation Bible School at an old country church. My brother and I really enjoyed it.

Nice story. Good luck in the contest.

Cheers & Blessings

Unfortunately the conflict between a journey east as opposed to west was their undoing. Your message is strong because life is like that, we must always try to resolve conflicts whether internal or external and with God's help we can. Well done, Brooke.

Zerubbabel and Tobias, two sea-faring mates headed for adventure and fun on the high seas. They set out to slay the starfish devouring beast.

However, Tobias didn't care as much for star fish as did Zee, so the ship languished anchored to its harbor, rotted and sank, simply because they could not reach a compromise.

Did I detect a slightly subliminal message here?

Well done, Brooke, and good luck to you in the contest. My entry will be out around Sunday, entitled, I, Man! Look for it on a FanStory shelf near you!

You are very welcome, Brooke, and thank you as well. I still have a bit of tweaking to do on the meter. Go figure, right, LOL?

LOL - Hey, this site is full of people who don't let a little off-kilter meter stop them from posting ;-)

Ha ha, yeah, myself included, Brooke, LOL. I do try so very hard to shore it up as best I can, with my limited abilities...

Vacation Bible School. I am not surprised. I'll wager you do a bang-up job. Again, I can't see any openings to attack your poem, so I'll just mutter off out of sight. Excellent.

You've been reading your bible again Brooke! some really great names in the Old Testament, this is one of them, a very clever poem, beautifully rhymed in abcb, beautifully crafted, even metered work, and a great part of your collection of children's poems, what a wonderful place, to dwell in your imagination! Well done, blessings, Roy.

Mephibosheth is one of my favourites, named a dog after this one! Mepho was crippled, a survivor of Saul's house, sat at King David's table! Roy.

I have to write that one down, a new name for me :-)

Brooke, what a great poem, and I sure don't remember this name, but wonder how many really would! Names that can't be pronounced properly, especially longer ones, I tend to forget. I enjoyed this very good story that you'll share in Bible School. What a great message about two who argued day and night, that they got nowhere and bye-bye ship, lol. This is a good lesson for them to hear about, and I really do see a win here, or I'd be surprised. Good luck friend. . .Sharon

Poem type: Children's poetry in rhyming quatrains of 6/5/6/5
Does this poem flow: It flows like water
Do the lines seem forced: The lines are perfectly rhymed and metered
Did the structure make sense: a perfectly structured poem
Did it draw on my emotions: It really is a poem that lures the reader into the world of children
Did it present strong images: As a reader I was surrounded by the sea and its anchored ship waiting for two brave and equally tempered souls to make up their mind.
Suggestions for improvement: none whatsoever
Would I recommend this to someone else: You bet!!

Thanks for reminding me who Zerubbabbel is/was. Anyway, I have a feeling your VBS kids are having a treat with your story telling abilities. And, I even think more, you've inspired more than one to become or renew their faith in Jesus. I think that's how it came about for me when I was in first grade...hearing the stories of the Bible in Sunday School. Teachers have such a grand influence on their students!

A lovely fun adventure with two fabulously named characters.
As always, your poems flow and the rhymes are perfectly matched.
