My garden is full of purple flowers - I love the colour, Janilou. I wish I could show my garden to your friends and tell them how special they are.

And you are special too, to write this moving piece. It's power is in its simplicity of unadorned verbiage.

Beautiful!

Have a lovely week.

Love,

Sonali xxx

I like the way you told your story from the point of view of a person with a mild intellectual disability. I could picture in my mind the situation you described. This story carries an important message in its narrative. I think you did an excellent job with this piece.

when you came out of your house, - I would make that a period
I love all the illustrative examples you include of those things that make the narrator an everyday, likable person, participating in the same sort of activities and relationships that other people do. When she points all these similarities out, I just wanted to shake the shoulders of the neighbor ignoring her to say - can't you hear what she's telling you? You convey a strong message in a well-told story. Brooke

This is terrific. The narrator sounds like a lovely girl who may speak in simple sentences, but seems very aware. It confuses me why more people don't like hugs, too. It is sad that her neighbor ignores her and, like you, I wish that people could look past the differences and see everyone's unique and special personality.

this is very well written, janilou, you did an excellent job writing this story about the way we are all important and we should all be paid attention to. how many friendships have never been started because someone was different than us.

I really enjoyed reading this. It was from the heart, truthful and aa true reflection of what life can be like for people with disabilities. I worked in a special school for ten years and so know exactly where you are coming from. Our school was at the top of the hill and a comprehensive school was at the bottom. As our coaches past at the end of each day, children from the other school would call out such horrible things. They were cruel and so horrible. I loved your story and am so glad you shared it. What an excellent tear-jerking story. So very believable; so very true. Many us look pass those who are deemed mentally challenged just as we do the homeless. Thank you for sharing this story that surly tugged at my heart strings.

Hello there~!
This is beautifully written. I became all teary eyed by the time I reached the end. Yeah, that really is the truth. Such awesome people are ignored. We just need to open our hearts and our minds.
Thanks for sharing this amazing and eye-opening work.

JazakAllah Khair~!
(God Bless~!)

I think this is a wonderful essay with an important message.

I work with the disabled as a volunteer at a therapeutic riding stable and am happy to report that everyone there treats all the riders with the respect and care that they deserve.

If more people celebrated what we have in common (just the way you did in your essay), instead of fussing over differences, we'd have a beautiful world.

Thanks for your essay.

It's obvious, you are a GM in an online game and you are invisible!

We all know why you smile so much. You hide behind someone standing admiring the view from the top of a cliff and then you give them a gentle nudge.

At the bottom are a pile of rotting backpacks and pottery bowls which have a sludge that may one have been casserole. Oh .. no. Erm, sorry, that was the deathfall that I accidentally created at the edge of my last estate. Those backpacks sell pretty well you know.

Okay .. so I know its a completely tangential comment but not really. I was actually collecting purple flowers in a game recently, though I have not planted them yet. And, I think, not long before an invisible teuton turned up to help me free my boat from its grounded position, some passing stranger wandered by.

Does this all sound like nothing at all to do with your story?

Well it is. Because when the invisible GM turned up and freed my stuck boat I smiled very happily that there was someone around to help me solve my problem.

Maybe you are freeing stuck wheelchairs or bottoms glued to seats, or whatever, but I bet the people you help feel at least as happy about it as I did when the GM freed my boat.

Really a very beautiful, simply written story that contains a wealth of happy thoughts.
