Everyone can relate to this message in your poem. Excellent, as usual. I especially liked the 'gob of mayonnaise and mustard's all it takes' You can hear a little boy's angst in the words.

I think the poem flowed freely. The rhymes are neat and clean, smooth as silk. The structure was strong. Its was like a five story building, with foundation of love but unaware of what the owner's really wanted. The paintings inside the house was beautiful but was not like the liking of the unsophisticated owner. The prospective, buyer of the home or owner just relish on simple decorations not full of artistic settings. He did not like that. Finally, he was amenable to all what is the structure, all that is inside, because he is home-hungry. He wanted a home at all cost. (My simile of hunger for food and home).

Thank you. It was a simile in terms what the subject is: A child hungry to eat but did not really like the food very much--like a home-buyer that has been presented a home with all the beautiful trimmings inside that was so much for him--he preferred simple one--a simple meal...a 5-poem stanza to a five story home with strong foundation. Was I imagining too, much? Yes because I am an engineer looking for strong foundation of a home with all the beautiful architectural inside. The too much decoration inside the home lost my appetite, like the food... and the home, it was full of design that did not appear to appetite. I think there could an application of simile in thought not only in

Thank you. I made a simile out of the thought presented and not a simile on the words presented in the poem. Thank you.

Brooke, oh, how very nice. I hear him saying all that.
He is really a happy boy, just imagine all your poems and stories.

I am sure he will love them. I certainly try and do my best for my grandson to have a few poems written especially for him. So far, his favorite is the dragon.

Thank you for sharing. Ruth

The muse of a child in a poem. Sometimes, children are very selective and don't like some of the menus served by their Moms but could they actually have their ways?

Hi Brooke,

What a cute picture of Sawyer with a funny but really nice poem. You sure come up with good ideas to write poetry about your darling grandson. Bravo!

Another delightful insight of the world's truths through Sawyer's eyes. This poem is positively fun - I especially liked how mother ruined some perfectly good cheese by pouring it on cauliflower. Now, that's cruel.
And as far as tuna goes - I wish it would jump back in the ocean too.
A great read that made me smile.
Rose.

This one made me laugh. You are so right about the 'nasty' things we made our kids eat--and we had to eat when we were kids. Very articulate and well written. I could see this in a magazine like Woman's World, so a six again.

Brooke;
I must say; this might be the only time reading of vegetables or liverwurst has ever made me smile. I can almost smell the nasty plate of them. Enjoyable piece.

Beautiful. Mom's do some strange things to get children to eat. I know I did.
Ice cream always seems to be a treat they all love to eat.
I enjoyed this read greatly.

What a fun and enjoyable piece of writing! Thank you for sharing this. The different foods and how they went "wrong" made me chuckle and smile. A perfect start for my Sunday.
