A lovely 5-7-5 and a strong contender for sure. I have many different species oif hydranga in my yard and each comes complete with its own type of critter. Bets wishes in the voting. rj

You just turned me into a new convert for Joshua Bell, he is definitely a violinist virtouso. I also enjoyed your 5-7-5 poem about an unknown shy critter hiding in the intricate patterns of the rose petals. Joshua Bell may not be as popular as Beyonce or J Lo, but that does not make him less of an artist. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for this lovely review and positive feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed the musical piece to which it opened a new artist for you. He's one of my favorite violinists, next to Lindsey Stirling and my own two daughters ;) They all have a way of just bringing the music they play to life through their expressiveness to me. Have a grand weekend...Cheers!

What a lovely poem on the secrets of nature! But for your useful author notes, it would have created some confusion in my mind. You have given a befitting title for the short poem dealing with plant kingdom with insect invaders. In their bizare world, some plants are carnivorous and some creepers are worse than leeches.

Thank you for the wonderful feedback and the beautiful stars. You are so right about nature being such a bizarre world. Never would I have guessed how useful my little hydrangea would grow to be when I planted it some 4 yrs ago. It offered a lovely refuge for this little critter for a season to which I am grateful to have had the pleasure of the experience. I'm glad the notes came in handy. There have been quite a few people who were met with confusion and also appreciated the extra info. Sometimes, it's all in the details ;)

Hi Willowsong - A good 5/7/5, correct syllable count and a clear message about insects who find refuge in plants and yet are not seen. Your picture is most suitable - I can just see the small grasshopper? Good luck in the contest. Warm regards Dorothy

Thank you for the wonderful review and lovely stars. It's actually a spider but difficult to tell because it blended in with the plant so well. It lived there all summer, so every day I was able to sneak little peaks at it from different angles and get a good look at it from time to time. Have a glorious weekend :)

Right - I should have known by its colour that it was a spider. I had one in my conservatory during the summer and when I tried to remove a fly from the web when cleaning the place it shot out as if to say "that's my dinner, if you don't mind" LOL. Cheeky thing - Dorothy

Oh my! LOL! I bet that gave you quite a surprise indeed. I find them utterly fascinating myself...from a distance, of course ;)

Hi Willowstar, yes I noted the little friend that had taken up residence in your Hydrangea, not sure what it is though, but I am sure that this is a great 5-7-5 for this competition, good luck my friend.

Thank you for your kind review and the lovely stars. I added a link to a page that describes what kind of spider I believe it to be. You can find the link in my notes below the piece. Simply highlight, right click and open in a new tab if interested in reading more about it. Have a wonderful weekend. Cheers! :)

This poem can be also used as a metaphor. Just as some plants are content to frame and support the lovely colorful plants, so are some of the best friends in life. Not everyone needs to shine, some are gifted in supporting.

What a wonderful observation and angle that holds very true to our lives. I enjoy when others read my work and find new ways to interpret and appreciate what I write. Most of my poetry is usually pretty literal, but you have inspired me to attempt to incorporate more metaphors in my writing. I humbly thank you for the insightful review and lovely stars. Cheers! :)

I saw the little critter right away, Willowsong, so no apologies needed on my account. What is it, an aphid of some sort?

The violinist video was exceptional as well. It truly does accompany your poem quite well.

Great work! The insect really blends in extremely well with the Hydrangea.

Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback. I'm pleased you spotted him easily. It's actually a spider. I was so impressed with its ability to blend in with the hydrangea too, using its abdomen to act as the white center of the flower. Creatures are absolutely brilliant at times. I went online to see if I could find more info about the little critter and the closest I could find was this link if interested to read more about it: http://www.spiders.us/species/misumena-vatia/ I found it to be quite fascinating since this is the first white spider I've ever encountered. Thank you again for your lovely review. Cheers! :)

I enjoyed your poem. Thanks for the author notes. Yes, I did think exactly opposite of what you stated in the notes. I reread it and understand it better now. The picture is perfect. I could not play the song, but I like that you included it. I see nothing to change. Good luck in the contest.

I graciously thank you for your kind review and lovely stars. I'm glad my notes add clarity to the piece and that you enjoyed the photo. I apologize that you were unable to play the song. I will check to see if it's something on my end. It's a wonderful piece to listen to. I put the song info in the notes as well if you wish to look it up in a separate window. I think you will enjoy it thoroughly. Cheers! :D

Hi, Willowsong,

This is such a beautiful work. From the photo to the 5.7.5, and the topper, of course, is Joshua and company. Awesome performance.

Great presentation. Good luck in the contest.

Cheers & Blessings

It took me a bit to see it hidden in plain sight. The bug hidden on the violet. I love the music. Nicely written haiku. Blessings. Patricia

Thank you for the lovely review. I am pleased that you took a moment to find the spider as well...my goal for this piece was to draw the reader into the moment with me so that they too, enjoyed the scene before them. Cheers!
