It's so true it's nit the winning but the taking part, a beautifully expressive poem, your wording was really well done, and I loved the message, also the picture and presentation was as always excellent,
Andrew

The famous bookie said "Maybe the battle don't go to the strong or the race to the swift-but that's how I bet it."
This sounds like a talented coach wrote it. Excellent.

This is yet another exceptional poem that the author has created with this piece of writing. Unfortunately, I don't have any six star ratings left as this so richly deserves every one, so five stars will have to do. I totally agree with this poem. Well done again.

Your flexibility as a poet has been shining through. Here is a lesson too few are taught. Instead we teach: Be a winner - do whatever it takes to be a winner. The rhyme and 8 syllable count keeps the reader moving forward. Great message.

Hello Dean Kuch,
Nice piece of Self-Improvement Poetry beautifully depicting an uplifting theme!
Impressive and perfectly matching the theme wording.
Captivating flow with lovely rhyming scheme and lively imagery.
"Now, on your marks -- get set -- let's go!
The race is on, put on a show,
this life is far too brief to waste,
breathe deep, keep up a steady pace..."
Marvelous!

Just like the saying - it not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game. Sure, we want to win, be the best, grab the glory and hold the trophy. Who doesn't? But be realistic, you can't win each time because the person next to you is also there to compete. That should be what brings out the best in a person, competition.

Your poem eloquently said that. It was well written with a good rhyming scheme. John

Hi Dean - This is one time when I wish I had a 6. This is not just self improvement but quite philosophical. Very well written in rhyming couplets. Six good stanzas absolutely faultless and a good read. As always well displayed. Kind Regards Dorothy

I agree with every word you have written here, Dean. Life is too short to waste a single moment of it. It's not until we are in our Autumn years that we realise how fast time has gone. I liked the way you ended this too, with your author notes, that was something I told my children, it's the trying, not the winning that counts. An excellent poem. xsx sandra

A search for the sublime in faith, hope and zeal for life. Being a self starter or your own promoter can be an exhausting undertaking but the pay off is exhilarating. Well done.

Till the last amen
