I agree completely. It is the attempt that's important not the result. We must strive to be the best we can, sometimes in losing we win. Well written, Dean,

That's right, Rod, especially if we help someone else and our help allows them to succeed in some way. I feel that's far more rewarding than winning at all costs. I really appreciate your feedback, my friend.

Oh my God Dean, I cannot but scream help everybody, read Dean`s poem to know how to adjust your lives, read to go towards a successful marriage or future, or studying, or working, ETC, just read that unique amazing poem. Yes Dean you are a blessing to be on FS, to read your poems, and use the philosophical advices in each of your poems. I wanted to wait till the evening to get my sixth, but I had to show everyone how that poem is amazing to follow. Bravo . Bless u Terry xoxoxo

Your poem is full of wisdom for a life's path that is surely to be a winner. Your poems flowed well and your words were chosen with care to get the most meaning out of each.

This definitely deserves a six, as your talent is so evident in this one, without glittery graphics & the like...Flows as if one is that experienced marathon runner & knows exactly how here to get our attention, with great rhyme & reason & haven't read any better, inspirational poetry here for quite a time, & great added touch with your notes... Thanks, & will definitely bookmark this gem of a poem & Dean, you made my day just reading this..

Wish Fanstory wasn't so stingy with the sixes here, & we don't get any, as you know, granted until tomorrow, the Sabbath day, I guess we should bow our heads & thank them for, at least this generosity..Though adding a few more to the roster seems that it can't hurt anyone, & think will help us all out in the long run...

Thanks, Caressa, I appreciate the compliment. And never worry about six star reviews, those aren't the truly important thing. The fact that you say it made your day by reading it, that is the most important thing, to touch and inspire the lives of others, if we can. That's the reason we really write in the first place, isn't it?

Thanks again for you complimentary review.

Search for the light that's hidden there,'tween selfishness and deep despair and if at first you don't succeed try, try again. It all boils down to "How big is your want to. Good inspirationl poem Dean! Nancy

I wrote a poem with a similar message and it was ripped apart by the reviewers. I hope yours fares better than that, as it should. Because the message is a good one. It really doesn't matter if you win or lose. What matters is, that you give it your best. That was in a nutshell what my poem related and I had many tell me that was the wrong way to look at it. But I still believe I'm right. This poem was well written and flowed within its thoughts very smoothly. You can actually win a race without winning it, if you get my drift here. This was an over all excellent piece of poetic art to have read and written this response for... John

Thanks very much, John, I really appreciate the kind comments, my friend.

So far, the reviews have been fairly positive for the most part with this poem. I agree with you, you can win a race without actually crossing the finish line first. If you help someone attain success at something you yourself are trying to be successful at, like getting published, for example, it only serves to benefit you in the long run, if you'll excuse that shameless pun, LOL.

Thanks again for the excellent review. I truly appreciate it.

The trick of winning life's race is to keep putting one foot ahead of the other until the race is done. This is very well written with a smooth flow of words. I'm enjoying your lighter poetry.

Hi Dean,

Your message is strong and truthful, but most people are way too competitive to heed your advice. Great use of enjambment which really made me feel like I was running, and spot on rhymes and meter.

Hugs,
Lou

I'm reminded of one of St. Paul's letters where he talks about running the good race. Your poem is very inspiring, Dean. Rhymes are great and the message most uplifting. Bravo! :) Bev
