This work made me really sad. I have been there and although new love causes you to see nothing but the person you love, watching them walk away is the hardest thing to do. Great job. I really loved it.

Lovely descriptive words you have used to express the emotions of love you feel. When all is well you are walking on air, when it doesn't work out you feel empty. Well chosen words to express your message. Most enjoyable, Faye

I love the picture. I love the poem. You once felt love make your world great. Even the stars were in your reach. Then you gradually saw she did not love you. You feel all hope is gone. You feel she x'ed out all you thought you were. Great work.

A-z and does not read that way at all. Your first half, dizzying love with fireworks, is magnificent. So true at one time , knights and Orion bordering on the corny, but that is exactly how young love is felt. Melancholy unnoticed, neither really letting the other in- so sad, so true, and a call to rekindle. X is my new name/ you Slayed ( should be slew) my identity/zero equals hope- devastating. But I don't think you are saying there is zero hope, just that in recognition of zero, there is hope for healing. I blew through all my sixers yesterday, otherwise, well, you know.

an excellent and clever use of the abcderian form
beautiful detail with exuberant expression of romantic love
compelling shift in tone as that chill comes in on a breeze
a powerfully emotional poem about the hope of love and the tragedy of love lost

Wow, Miguel! My hawk-eyes failed me on this one... You had me so captivated in a trance with the first stanza, which pulled on my motherhood strings (my kids are teenagers now, but I still try to cradle them!) that I didn't even notice throughout the rest of the poem that it was an A-Z, until I got to x and thought, "That's different, but true..."

When the moon hits you eye like a big-a pizza pie, that's amore! I love your descriptions of everything exploding in colorful celebration... that is, until you bring in the melancholia like a pall bearer. You are an older version of Keats and Byron wrapped up into one! I have had my share of heart-break, too, and I do agree that the hope of "zero" lies in the ability to begin anew every time with a blank slate. How much can a heart take, though? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie pop? If the world ever does know, it will definitely have learned the answer from you, Lord Cahill. Too bad you didn't enter THIS ONE in the A-Z prompt (though, I didn't see the results of that one -- maybe you won?).

This one must go into your edition of Quintessential Mikey -- have you started compiling your poems into book-form yet? I've been doing a lot in the way of editing, reworking and organizing versions of my book over the past year and a half, or so, and I am learning quite a lot. Number one lesson: it is freaking hard! Number 2: you can't start too soon. I definitely think that some of your poems are submission-worthy. You have such a way of resonating with people's general experience of the world. You poetry is deep and yet so accessible and vivid. It's a rare combination.

Bravo on this one! It truly DOESN'T suck!

Stephie

Wow! A to Z. It took me a minute to see what it was! Well done Michael, what you said about feeling so empty when you lose your love is very true. I have lived it but it was worth it. Good job. Nancy

This poem is about someone questioning their reasons of why they should continue or not with their relationship. I found this poem to be well written with a clear understanding of the thoughts within its poetic avenues. I enjoyed reading this well written piece of poetic art... John

This is an awesome A-Z poem, something I would NEVER consider trying. Each verse is exceptional. It' imagery is amazing and so original. This flows so smoothly causing the A-Z to go completely unnoticed. This is truly one of your best yet.

Hi Mike, Its 6 AM and I am reading your poem, I couldn't but share a tear, your writing Mike is so deep, and your formation of your words into phrases, means more than just words, they are feelings of someone in distress after giving up hope of a continuation. An amazing poem, your writing gets more beautiful by the day. Mike I am back on FS, hopeful full time. I think you entered the contest with that poem, and I tried to see how I can get notices when someone wins. I hope you win, if that was a contest poem. You do deserve it. I missed our sharing. Love u Terry xoxoxo
Of course I am out of sixes, so I send you my stars from Montreal. xoxo
