Is that a 'Twitty Bird'? Where is Sylvester? I think me eyes are going bezerk. A blast of tangerine and yellow colors. Looks shipshape to me. No obvious SPAG errors to be concerned about. Professionally written. Was humorous and light-heartening. Enjoyed this poem. wackydo

All of us in our golden years reflect on the question, "What if?" Happy are we who come to the conclusion that we are blessed. This poem has delightful rhyme and meter.

I love how this seems to be leading up to you having huge regrets about the things you never did, and then ends on a positive note with just the opposite sentiment. What a sweet tribute to your husband and family and the life you've lived! Very well written and touched my heart.

LoannaLois, your plans and inner observation and philosophical narration on your life and how things should have and could have been and how you enjoyed what you have now and realize what has been was great and good is a great epilogue to your life.
The rhyming quatrains were done excellently and neither of your rhymes were forced nor labored while your rhythm flowed smoothly throughout your poem.
Your picture I found to be very amusing And humorous in the way you may locate yourself. Chuckle! Chuckle!

Though the meter is jumpy in places, the content well makes up for that.
So many things you wish you had done differently or more fully but, as you say, the gains were at least as important, as you brilliantly sum up in the last stanza.
Brilliant feeling and expression throughout.
Worth my sixer for sure - only my 2nd awarded this week, and I've reviewed loads.

lots of women will identify with this poem, women who had dreams of careers and world travel and developing their talents, who chose instead to raise a family - it is bittersweet, the world of choices - we feel wistful about what we gave up, but in the end, so many of us would not trade what we ended up with for ten times those things we gave up :-) Brooke

"I chose to be someone he'd marry" - another one of those great lines - just the right words to express a profound experience. The topic of your poem is universal and I love the conclusioon. While we all have regrets, once you have kids it's hard to imagine taking any path that would have the effect of undoing that reality. I doubt that painting the the cafe patrons on the left bank could hold a candle to playing Ring-Around-the-Rosie with your kids and grandkids.

Very nice, Lois, and while it sounds you have much reason to be despondent and downtrodden, you still mange to find things in life to be thankful for. That's quite commendable, I think.
As for the poem, it is very well written, with a smooth cadence and excellent word choices. you really manage to make the message "sink and and take root" with your very last line.
An excellent poem. Very upbeat and uplifting.
