This is such a tender, true story and a handwritten note is such a rare gift nowadays when text messages have taken over.
Virtual video chat and emails have all replaced the pencil. i can still recall the mechanical pencil, which i treasured in my schooling days pencil box, smiles.
Wow! Your parents lived to a ripe and a wise old age. Looks like you will live just as lasting too, smiles.
Excellent story and deserves a Six Star. Since i have run out again (as usual), a big Virtual ****** Star for this tender yet compelling love story about the good ole pencil days of romance, :)).
Cheerio, lots of hugs and smiles, bro Ritchie. :))

Thank you dear Ritchie, for this sweet and thoughtful review. My parents were a very unique couple for sure.
I would love to live to a hundred, especially if I could be as sharp as mother was.
    Love you

i am sure they are. To be sharp we just have to be more sensitive, vigilant and observant.
Big smiles and love, bro Ritchie. :))

Carolyn,
You did it again, composed another six writing.

I wonder if your Dad proposed to your Mother via the mailbox romance; and did she accept via the same communication.

Have a blessed celebration of America's 238th Birthday,
Your Friend,
Jerry

Hi Jerry and bless your heart for this wonderful award. Actually, they did make all their plans that way. They were married in Newport, Arkansas. I think they took a wagon load of family and friends to the court house with them, on that special day. Thank you so much and I am glad you enjoyed the story. :-)Carolyn

This is a totally adorable story, and it is legitimately a complete story, as so many of the entries are not. I wish I were on the committee so I could vote for this one. You have my virtual six. :-) Brooke

Thank you dear lady, I am glad you enjoyed this poem about Mother and Dad. They were amazing people. Did you have a good time in Florida, or are you still there? We are in Tennessee at our son's house.
    Love you Linda,

Darling story told in only 50 words. Quite a feat.

I am quite amazed at your creativity. Is this true? or wherever do your ideas come from?

Well done.

Oh What a lovely story of young love. You see more and more of the older people having long marriages. Not like today when there are so many divorces. Lovely write, Carolyn. god luck in the contest.

Now, this should be further explored to be written in a full-blown story, with no word limitations.

Carolyn, this was wonderful. What a great memory and story you'll have about mom and dad! I was easily able to conjur up a picture of this as I read it.

Nicely done, John

    Hi there dear John,
Yes, there are a lot of stories I plan to write about them. This was difficult to say in a few words. But fun. The first draft was 114 words I think. Brevity was never one of my better virtues.
    Love Carolyn
