"The other people in my life don't know what it is like to be a writer. They don't know what it is like to write something and have someone read it and tell me what they think of it. They don't understand how important that is to me... -- Micheal Cahill

I loved what you said, Mikey, in the above blurb I have highlighted. Why? because it's so very true. My wife thinks I'm having an illicit, on-line affair. I'm at my keypad bangin' away (no, not like that, silly!) so often, writing this, posting that, submitting to publishers and editors, growing my LinkedIn data base with established publishing houses, etc, etc. So, I simply tell her, "Yes, darling, I am. I'm in love with writing." Only people like you and the many talented others here in this community truly understand that. No one else in my family reads so much as the instructions on a box of instant mashed potatoes.

I was hit with another blow of sadness, the second today, when I read your post and learned of Songbyrd's death. I loved that lady, she was always so very kind to me. I've also been wondering about several others members besides the ones you mention. Samuel Dickens and his down-to-earth, fabulous way of writing has been missing for a long while now.

You're 100% correct, we do come to know and , yes, even love some of our friend here at FanStory. And as for those who have been missing, they remain in our thoughts and prayers.

She was such a doll. She loved her hubby and they wrote and played some great songs. I was reading responses to Iravens announcement and one of the answers said "I hope she says hi to Songbird". My heart sank. I've been wondering since December where she was. I was hoping recording or some kind of project. But, I PMd him and he said yes it was our Songbyrd. I don't know any details or anything. Her last review was a six she gave one of my poems. I've been looking at it for six months hoping to see something else. Now, Lovinia is missing for quite awhile. She is another lovely girl that is nothing but sweet to everyone. Some of the others I'm sure just went on to other things, but Songbyrd I know had health problems and Lovinia does too. So, more worry. It is true, no one in my life could care less about my writing. There have been a couple gals, but my wife treats them like affairs!! And they end up feeling that way. Sneaking out to read each others poems. Hahaha. What a wild man, huh? Well, hopefully the others are just lost in the real world somewhere. I don't think I can stand anymore bad news for awhile. Thanks for the great review and insights. mikey

You're very welcome, Mikey. I don't think I could take any more either, not after today.

Hi Michael,

A lovely tribute! It's wonderful to have known someone you care so much about.

I think you are so right about being able to form friendships on sight. We all have a common denominator - writing. Many people don't understand us. Who we are, What makes us tick. Except for another writer.

Beautifully said.

Cheers * Blessings

IT is so true. Knowing that we are writers tells us a lot about each other. You are so right about that. Thank you so much. Blessings to you. The smile is back on. mikey

Yea... I'm glad the smile is back on, Mikey!
That was a very nice tribute to your friend. I lost a dear friend to cancer many years ago, and I still miss here like crazy. I remember her laughter. Her great smile. They will always be with us. Cheers, my friend. Annnnd, Keep Smilin'.... Good Night..Jax

Gungalo, I had been wondering about you, lately. I hadn't hear. I hadn't suspected... I suppose everyone is saying this. And when I saw those delicate, refined features in the picture I was taken aback just as your poetry always surprised me. I had pictured a resilient, warm-blooded human being with the sharpest senses eager to seize those images and make something beautiful out of them. I hope we leave you on a positive note. I mean you leave us with the unanswerable question. Go in peace. -Ekim777

What a great message this is. Boy, you are so on target with the connection we share as writers. I can absolutely agree with you as far as how "different" this whole writing experience has been in just the one month as a member. Like, for example, there are people on this site who actually want to read what I've written! This is blowing my mind! Friendships, oh yes indeed. I'm already becoming familiar with certain writers and it's just amazing how much talent is pinpointed to this one website. I'm sure your friend will be missed and I think what you wrote for her is beautiful!

I started last August, so I remember quite well exactly what it feels like. It was one of the most terrifying things in my life to post something here. I'd had it sitting in dusty books on shelves my whole life. AHHHHHH!!!!! SCARY. This place is unlike any other. We really do have access to one another. The other sites make it too hard to have a conversation somehow. There are some great writers here and great people too. Thanks for such a wonderful review. Big smiles! mikey

Hey Mike...-smile-...I wonder why those who state openly that "relationships" found here are ...ahh unhealthy...unreal...keep coming back. I tell you the truth when I say...never had I had a "on line" relationship...until here....I literally learned to type here.....I have shared through my writing ...what I would be literally incapable of expressing through any other medium....revealing things never seen before...to even myself. How you could get to know someone more...in such a safe setting...is...ahh a question...-smile- ...I remember this woman .....Songbryd....so many souls sense I've been here.....you know I defended Gungalo...in review to Missy last year.....and then...she died....and felt so bad for being harsh....all that in two years....yea its been a long day...great read thank you sir love Michael

So true. The people here know me better than anyone in my life save for a couple loves that were also artists. But, that was more complicated. There is a high percentage of great people here. I have to remember that and not let idiots take my focus off of it. But, this is sensitive stuff. It does hit home. Like an insult to one's child. Sometimes I am glad that some of the gals are in other countries though. Hahaha. mikey

Points well taken, Mikey. Yep, I'm still sad about Gungalo, I didn't know your friend. I do love her poem that you cared to share with us. And I agree with you ... these are not fictatious friends. They have a heartbeat like you and me. They matter ... because they respect and appreciate a writer. Life goes on, like Corky, authors don't seem to get much respect. Writing poems is a waste of time ... blah-blah-blah. I bet Steven King heard that one many times. Yes, I wish we knew about these people who vanished into thin air. I wonder, about Lovinia. I had a nickname for her, she loved chocolate. Lovinia Wonka, who could figure. This is a nice tribute to the fallen authors. Many would bat an eyelash and go on ---there way! This is dedication. Reality check ... this can happen to us. I hope their works will not be lost. I'm glad you saved some in your bookcase. I saved a few of Gungalo's, just inn case her account is cancelled. I hope others will save some poems as well. They are only dead in body, but their spirit lives on in their poems, blueprint of themself. How can you rate a story like this. Their life means so much more than stars. Even a six is an insult to what they have accomplished. It's good to see ... someone will miss us if something tragic should happen? This is like taps ... for a lost author. Our final goodbye. Thank you, Mikey. This may help cheer me up, I do miss Gungalo, she was a real nice lady. do loco

Amazing to be so positive that no one can imagine her being anything but young and full of life. I have no idea how old she was. I can't imagine her anything but young. I'm worried about Lovinia. But, there isn't any way to find out anything. All of her friends are in the same boat. There's a couple others too that are MIA. Well, caught up on reviewing today. Haven't touched my story. Wrote this bing bang bong! Getting to these now. Trying to make a dent. mikey

A most appropriate and well put tribute. Songbyrd was a lovely person and I had no idea what had happened to her. There are several people that have vanished without explanation and it is worrisome. Good points and a lovely tribute to a dear soul. May she RIP. NG

That is the hard part, I think. Not knowing. I still don't know what happened. Well, she was a true Christian so she knew where she was going. mikey

Bravo Mi8key. God bless you for remembering others of the community here who have passed on. We love you mate and I count it a real privilege as you have to know the wonder of so many good friends here on FS. I agree they are not a passing fad either. I love especially the many of you that also read my stuff and diligently seek to help me put things in a better light or read better or more understandable. God Bless you Mikey and God bless all my friends in FS. Sympathy goes out to those who have lost loved ones today.

I know some people just move on. But, I wish they would just say goodbye! It really does leave a hole and a worry that doesn't seem to go away. Every once in a while we drop by and see if there is a reply to a review or something. Well, get those kids out of the pool... they are wrinkling!! mikey
