This was and achingly yet tender tribute to the loss of those who have been together for years but one is at a loss when a life-partner goes first.
The artwork was so telling. My neighbor had been married for 40 long and happy years when he died a few weeks ago.
Again, this read so well even through the pain. Blessings to you.

There will be no one screaming after reading this sad little tale. It is a sad tale that happens all too often. You spend your life with another and it doesn't seem like life without them. Great work.

Thanks so much, Lance. You're right, my father-in-law hasn't been much the same since he lost his wife in August of 2012. They'd been together for almost forty years. On second thought, none of us have been the same after her passing. Such a loving, kind and giving person she was.

    Thanks again, my friend!

Oh no, this poem won't bring any screams, Dean. It's so true to life in many ways. When you have lived with someone for so many years, life alone is unthinkable. Everyone will enjoy this excellent rhyming and meter and overall a poem with a great tale to tell. I also enjoyed your author notes and learnt something. Giddy

Thank you, Giddy. I'm just very glad that you enjoyed it, my friend. Pleasant Screams is like my FanStory signature. It's on most anything I write, unless it is a contest entry, of course.

A very well written poem. Your words flow smoothly, your message clear and easy to understand. Though your poem is sad, it's not overly so and I can see how others might make this darker (although I'm glad yours isn't) One spelling mistake (I think) Paragraph 4 from the bottom, line one: "Straing" should be "Staring"

Thanks very much for the review, Tegan1311, and for catching that typo for me. If I only had a nickle...

This has beautiful rhyme and meter and pulls the reader along to the end of the story. The author's notes are helpful Art work is fabulous.

Thank you, seaglass. This one took a turn from what was originally supposed to be a horror poem, to a more spiritual aspect. But, that happens sometimes.

    Thanks for the excellent review.

I read this over several times and then ran it off. It is so touching and beautiful. Shows what true love really is. Not much of that these days. I love it. I lost my husband 2 years ago. I really can relate to what this person is feeling.

A lovely and sensitive poem about a man who sees his time has come and as a last tribute to his wife and her part in his life he carves her image. You have explained the width and breadth of the term "graven image" very well.

A very good poem
And it rhymed
Well I see nothing wrong with it
So I will give it
5 very big stars*****
I didn't count how many lines but it is tough to rhyme all of those ..
I rhymed 15 once here lol!
I now have 4 up...

Hah, yeah, it takes a bit of practice, for sure, freepass. But, it was written for the Quatrain Poetry Contest here on FS. I knew it had to be right.

    Thanks for the fine review.

Dreamy in places, practical in others
Dean. A very pleasant read which keeps
the reader occupied to the very end.
And the very end is where we find our
selves. The authors notes help to explain your thinking, and tell us the
factual side. Eric
