VERY hard-hitting and heart-wrenching writing here, my friend. A real eye-opener for younger people, but also a reminder that we have a long way to go in battling these atrocities.

Also, providing specifics hits the reader much harder than merely "telling." Naming names and specifying incidents puts a human face on these crimes and is much more likely to elicit action.

We're of a somewhat similar age and I remember growing up thinking women were just there for men. I admit it took me awhile to discover differently, but I now look back and see that attitude wasn't just harmful to women, but to men as well. By keeping women down, men deprived themselves of a more meaningful society.

I admire your no-holds-barred expressions of your principles. I hope you are spreading these messages outside of this website. Hope it doesn't sound banal, but you could help change the world with your writings.

To be honest, when I read your work, I'm somewhat ashamed of the frivolous themes I write about. Like you're out there on the front lines while I'm just oblivious in the background.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you are the biggest inspiration on this site, Ingrid.

Your reviews deserve six-star mention for the emotional impact you have on me.

I'm not an expert, but I have convictions and rattle them here and through my e-mails to 'authorities' when I believe in a cause.

Even during wars people need comedy, diversion and dreams. don't you ever feel humbled by your writing. It is the BEST on the site and your stories absolutely transport me into your world or the one you create for your readers.

I always find it amazing when people complain about living in the US or Canada. I've lived in both and count myself lucky to not have been born in a country under islamic law. Atrocities committed today in modern times are as bad as anything historical--the genital mutilations and that 27 year old pregnant woman condemned to hang for not renouncing Christian beliefs. I heard on the radio yesterday that she gave birth (with legs chained to the floor). Her husband is a US citizen but gov't won't step in because she isn't WTF? She is scheduled to hang when baby is weaned. We all need to thank our lucky stars we live in this country.

Best wishes,
Rita

Maybe in some small way we should be grateful that all these events happened in short order and were flagged in the global community. they've been happening every day in a myriad of countries where women are not worth as much as a cow. Thank you.

Reminded me of black boys and black men hanging from their necks on trees looking like Christmas ornaments until people absorb this craziness they sweeps it underneath the rug this is serious about these women I love this story very much it enlightens, it's easy to read and it is a wake up call to justice. You are right "Apathy is not an option" It was needed to be said. Thanks for sharing.

E-mail your elected representative and ask what they are doing for the girls in Nigeria. Noise helps.

Well a very strong message you have conveyed here. Thank you for sharing your own historical message. And for also pointing out the plight of women still suffering worldwide. There is a long way to go and I hope more people read your story. Many blessings and kind regards Josi

Thanks. Why not send an e-mail to your local elected representative and ask what the government is doing for the girls in Nigeria?
