Let your inner child free and explore the monkey bars! I especially liked the play on "money superstars". Thanks for teaching us another fascinating form and an energized snapshot. Cheers- Joan

Thank you Joan. Monkey bars and monkey business. Little kids certainly are similar.

True confessions: I indulge in the swings on playgrounds! Of course, I have to push a kid out of the way, but so what?
Seriously, great poem. I love your phrase, "monkey superstars." Reading this felt like a brush with spring.

Hi, Trieschel,
"Child's Play" is an excellent hultan poem following the form you indicated for the genre. It has excellent rhyme and meter and and structure. There two comments that I could make. Item is the fourth line of the second stanza is a rather pedestrian word not up to the standards of the rest of the poem. In the sixth line of that stanza I believe that indulges to be parallel with casts would be better choice than indulge.

This is a well thought out poem but perhaps you should not resist your urges. It would be actually healthy to be a little kid again. So do it, go play in that playground with the kids. Well done, Tom.

A clever and well written Huitan poem and thoughtful subject choice. To watch children at play is such a joy and reminds us of how simple our lives once were. Usually.
Wouldn't it be lovely to have the flexibility and dexterity to run, climb
And play. The energy and creativity to create and above a ll to have every scrape and dent in life made better with a hug and kiss and... maybe a band-aid.

I like that I am learning about this poetic style. I took my time to recognize the ababccbc in each line. I like that the thoughts of being a child again resonates in how you value children playing.

O to be young once more
With no care in the world.no bills to pay or food to buy.
What a dream to have.
Beautiful write but I'm not sure I want to live life over again from what I know now. Take care

I think that watching children play is the most relaxing and funny thing an adult could do...it draws one in to act childish...even if for a moment. Excellent poem.

There's nothing wrong with joining in with children at play. This was an excellent piece of poetic art that really has a voice of where we all were at one time, and a place where we all would like to return to for awhile... John
