The poem is beautifully written and shows how much you feel about this particular topic. It was a tremendously dark time in history when the Reich ran rampant, but you also bring up a lot of good points in your author's notes. Points about the cruelty of man, in general. It's definitely not an original idea, as you've pointed out.
I love the feeling of warmth metamorphosed into anger and outrage that your poem brings, but the ending is what I really fell for. Forgiveness, in most cases, is a near impossible feat. It seems as though we are bred to hold a grudge, but the last part of this poem speaks of a forgiveness that is long overdue. Sometimes we as a race, need to look deep and pull on all of our strengths for the hope of leniency and forgiveness.
Thank you for sharing with us.

I thank you for reading it and receiving it so favorably, my friend. I agree with each and everything you said, as well. We do seem destined to hold grudges, anger and hatred inside of us. But it does us no good in the long run. In fact, it does more damage to us as individuals than anything else.
Thanks again, T.J!

Your work is always interesting, fascinating and educational. But this is even more than that. Now you have me questioning myself. Both sets of my grandparents came to the U.S. long before World War II and the need for it. Had they not immigrated, of what would they have been a part? Had I been born in another time and place, would I know right from wrong? Would I "walk the walk" or just "talk the talk"? This is incredibly impressive. Take care, Dean.

Thank you, Victor, and the fact that you felt it was incredibly impressive has left a huge smile on my face. That means more to me than anything else, that you enjoyed it, and that it made you stop and think. I've always felt that's what poetry was intended to do...make us ponder things differently. And that is precisely what I set out to do here.
Thanks again, my friend.

Poetry always gives one something to ponder. But to read something that sinks to the soul, is hard to come by. Take care.

Unforgettable poem and great historical lesson When you forgive, you in no way change the past - but you sure do change the future.
God Bless You !

I have read that Jews Were always persecuted( stories in the old testament that i have read seemed like that .jesus was a Jew wasn't he?)I enjoyed reading your poem very much ,mainly because the theme is so different from the usual ones.It is a smooth narrative, trying to give a valuable message.
hatred against one particular community is very common through out the world ,even today ,sadly.India is a couldron of such meaningless emotions, with politicians waiting to take advantage of.

Thank you, Charlie. I'll be sure to take a look at that.
I appreciate the read & review.

Twenty mysterious photographs on UTube has images of ghosts, extraterrestrials etc.

I looked at the Wikipedia history of Amazing Grace, Charle. That's where the link I copied and pasted into my browser that you provided me took me to. It was very interesting. I'm also a HUGE fan of YouTube, when my internet allows me to view it. I have satellite internet service, and they restrict the megabytes you can use per month, unless it's after midnight. Then your free to watch whatever you choose.

I truly enjoyed reading this poem dear friend. And why not, we all need a breath of fresh air in this world. Much prejudice, revenge and ills still prevail. One drop of clean air at a time, so welcome.

Hello Dean,
What an inspiring write. Your insightful imagination served you well with this emotional story. Forgiveness and empathy are the simple traits we must develop if were to see the Gates of Heaven. Nice job on this one...oh yeah, a small typo in the line, "Heavens firing squad I though(t) as they trod." Hey, all my best, Bill

Thanks for the feedback, Bill. And thanks for catching that typo, too! Oh, if I only had a nickle...
All is appreciated, my friend!
