picture book of horror The pain was devastating
You're missing a period after "horror".

I really liked this. It showed the detail that went into changing the speaker's life, and described the events that led to her thankfulness.
This ended hopefully.
I enjoyed reading.
Good job and good luck in the contest :)

What a beautiful letter of gratitude, and love. This story brings a tear to my eyes, and I was never mistreated in my life. You done a super job of relating your thankfulness to your helper. God bless you for sharing.

Ja, some rough times there, but it seems that you had an excellent counselar. An excellent job of putting your experience into words and showing your gratitude toward a good counselar. Good job, and good luck with the contest.

A very well written letter of thanks to a person who had helped the writer in so many ways. You made good use of language in the narrative and descriptions, to convey your message to the reader. It read very well and was most enjoyable. Good luck in the contest. Faye

If I was Paul, I would cry getting a letter so raw and grateful from a client. It would affirm the choices I'd made to take the hard road of counselling as a career. Hardly in a glamour job, your counsellor skillfully drew you through those stages whereby you were able to get on the road to recovery. The man sounds marvelous and I'm sure that this great letter is worthy of him.

Thank you for the kind review. If I knew how to reach him I would send it. He left the area years ago. I checked out face book and Linked in but had no luck.

This work has reached the exceptional level

You should send it, launch it into the universe and allow this teddy bear to know that he is remembered and was valued.

Can you imagine how it is from his point of view? While you are a victory, no doubt he had many failures. Maybe he is not too different than us, festering in his losses, forgetting his role in those that crawled back, fought back and won. We tend to remember the negatives with greater ease than the joy.

Great writing, loved the avatar coming to your garden.

He left the area a couple of years later. I have tried to find him through face book and linked in, but to no avail. He did draw on some of hi own issues. He came from a terrible father/son background. thanks for the great review and the bonus six. This exercise brought back a lot of memories. It was like hitting the refresh button on my gratitude.

I enjoyed the steps you took through this therapy. You were clear on how Paul dragged it out of you without force. Your feelings were exposed, bare to others in same situation. Thank you for sharing your story is powerful and your appreciation for the help you received is evident. God Bless wish you well with your entry. Terrie

What a great description! "...he made a career change that dumped him into a potpourri of pain and dysfunction."

On one hand this is a thoughtful letter to someone who basically saved your life, and on the other, it is raw exposure of yourself. To be able to do that is incredible! To be able to tell your secrets about the abuse, the pain, that is more brave than most of us.

I too am a child of an alcoholic so I know some of what you speak.

Great letter, and I wish you the best on the contest. But mostly I wish Paul could read this.

Debbie

He left our area years ago. T tried to find him on facebook and internet but no luck. Thanks for the kind review. Remaining anonymous allows one to be rather truthful in the pursuit of writing.

A touching letter and a reminder that some addictions can touch more than one member or one generation. The first part was a good brief introduction and the second carried all the emotion to the reader. Well done.
