Dear Tom - your author notes were just as lovely to read. A well penned sonnet and the meter which always causes me grief you pen gracefully.
Loved your ability to weave the falls into a beautiful outing with strong rhyme and flow.
Nicely done my friend and great picture you took as well.
Thanks for sharing it.

Waterfalls seem to harness nature's power and spill majestically from heights with a mighty roar or pulsating throb.
This image shows just how much force is unleashed as the winter snows melt and force the water down into the valleys.
A clever bonnet which captures the majesty and attraction of the falls.

You know waterfalls are magical. It is a bit like watching a the wild flames in a bonfire except the flames are replaced by the cascade of cool splashing water. Well done.

Thanx rod. Yes, very much so.
Comment from RGstar
wonderful sight indeed. Is it man made or a natural phenomenon?
If it is connected to mountain flow then how pure the water must be.
A nice write in portraying a memorable place for you.
Best wishes,
RG

Thank you RG, it's a natural flow along a canoeable creek that runs several miles originating in Lake Minnetonka.

A great place to be with water cascading down into a gushing and melodious sound. A wonderful place to be in Minnehaha Falls..and the name is cute especially the 'haha' sound at the end of it, smiles.
Great write and well expressed a place to go to everyday. What a beauty!
Cheerio, best, Ritchie. :))
Have a wonderful weekend.

I love this poem, Tom, and the photo. How lovely to be so close to these lovely places. Is this the Minnehaha who is with Hiawatha? In the poem? Your words are beautifully smooth and flow easily down the page. A lovely sonnet and a pleasure to read. xsx Sandra

Thank you Sandra. Yes it is. In fact, there is a statue of them in the park. There is a fountain with the lines of the poem encircling it on the stone bench surrounding it, and Longfellow's home is on the site too.

Hi, Treischel,
"The Falls" is an excellent sonnet following a consistent rhyme scheme with excellent meter, rhyme and figurative language and imagery (in a rippling riff).

You should write for the travel brochures for MN. I bet they would love what you would say about the State. You are a great photographer and writer to boot! Thank You for sharing.

A beautiful picture, it captures the imagery in the poem. I like the structure and the tone. I can hear the water travelling from the cliff. Water is beautiful and mesmerizing. Great poem.

LOVE these bits:
Where water falling leaves its mark,
POURING profusely off the cliff, 'p' alliteration enhances
rippling riff, 'r' alliterations
Leaving the theme is ill advised. Perhaps revise. For ex:
"One thing - most folks are ignorant
About its seafood restaurant."
CONSIDER:
So in conclusion may I say,
I love to go there ev'ry day.
